The family of Father Willie Nathan Davis Sr., in consideration of the current health crisis facing our world, nation, state and local community, has decided to hold a private 50 people or less, family only, funeral service for their loved one with private interment immediately following. While the Davis family would love to be surrounded by your presence, they acknowledge the health risks to family, church members, friends, and particularly to those who are most vulnerable to this disease, the elderly and those with chronic  health conditions. What the family needs most at this time are your prayers and understanding. Thank you for your concern and cooperation.

Father Willie Nathan Davis was 94, and departed this life Saturday April 25, 2020 in Marion County. He was the father of Gloria J. Bethea, Doris A. Pee, Patrice Holmes, Felicia Davis, Loretta McGill, and Shalonda Scott, Tasha S. Davis, LaToya Davis and MaKeel Davis grandchildren reared in the home. Funeral services are scheduled to be held at the Jackson & McGill Memorial Chapel on Thursday April 30, 2020 at 9:00 am with interment at the Florence National Cemetery, Florence, SC. The family will provide a guest list of 50 guest or less. 

His Story

Mr. Willie Nathan Davis Sr., son on the late John & Daisy Davis, was born February 14, 1926, in Marion County. He departed this life and entered into sternal rest on Saturday, April 25, 2020.

Willie joined Greater Singletary A.M.E. Church at an early age. He served faithfully as a member of the Trustee Board and the Male Chorus. He was a lifelong member of  True Light of Zion Lodge #399, VFW Post 10319. Holy Royal Arch Mason and McDonald Consistory #226, 32nd Degree.

Willie attended the public schools of Marion. County. He served our country in the US Army AirCorp and the US Army. He was member of the “Greatest Generation ever” having served as a World War II veteran. Following his service in WWII, he served during the Korean War. After his dischargee from the military, he was employed with Marion Star News Paper for over 50 years.

Preceding him in death were his loving wife Dorothy, two sons Wille Jr. (Clutch) and John (BooBoo), and a grandson Montgomery (PJ), and 13 siblings (7 died as infants), Lula, Emma, James, Peter, Isaiah (IJ), and Jack.

He leaves to cherish fond and loving memories; his children; Gloria (Milton) Bethea of Marion, Doris (Gum) Pee of Darlington, SC, Patrice (Edward) Holmes of Marion, SC, Felicia Davis of Marion, SC, Shalonda Scott of Alexandria, Virginia, Loretta ( Jackie) McGill of Marion, SC, daughters-in-law Doris Davis of Marion, SC, Rosa Davis of Columbia, SC, ten grandchildren; Kenneth, Juandricas, Travis, Premiere, Jonas, Tasha, Latoya, Jessica and Make and nine great grandchildren; Aaron, Isis, Noah, Camille, Elijah, Kaya, Sydney, Travis, Jayden, Brooke, Morgan, Kemet.

A very special niece; Betty Page, many special friends, a few bonus god/grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
