Father Walter Boatwright was 82, and departed this life Saturday January 14, in Florence County. He was the father of Walter Boatwright, Terry Smith, Michael Boatwright and Bobby Boatwright.
Funeral services are scheduled to be held at the Old Field Missionary Baptist Church, Mullins on Friday January 20, at 2:00 pm. He will be laid to rest at Carmichael Cemetery, Mullins. Services will be live-streamed on the Jackson & McGill Facebook Page.

Walter Boatwright was born on February 28,1940, to the late Raymond Boatwright and Minnie Aiken-Boatwright. Walter departed this earthly life on Saturday, January 14,2023 at the Medical University of South Carolina, Florence, South Carolina.
Walter attended the Marion County Public School of Marion, South Carolina. He worked at AVM, he also did farm work, and he worked at Russell Stover until his health failed. He was a member of Old Field Missionary Baptist Church; it was there he served his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
He was affectionately known to family and friends as “Walt.” He was known for loving to be out riding and while he was out, he would often look for his brother Joe. He loved watching Family Feud and the news. He also enjoyed talking on the telephone.
Walter is preceded in death by his mother and father, son Jimmie Ray Boatwright, sister Lue Ann Aiken and his brother Deacon Thomas Aiken.
Walter Boatwright leaves to cherish his fond memories of four son’s Walter Boatwright of Rains, Michael (Angela) Boatwright of Rains, Terry (Michelle)Smith of Zion, and Bobby (Jackie) Boatwright of Rains. One special Grand Daughter Sherita (Christopher)Moore of Mullin, SC. Twelve Grandchildren. One special Great Grand Daughter Taylor Gamble of Mullins, SC. Fifteen Great Grands. Two sisters; Edna Carter of Rains, Patsy Davis of Florida. Four Brothers Johnny(Evelyn) Aiken of Gresham, James Johnson of Florida, Walter (Tensey)Johnson of Florida and Major Aiken of Rains. One sister-in-law Catherine Aiken of Mullins. Along with a host of nieces, nephew, other relatives and supportive friends
The family of Father Walter Boatwright in consideration of the current health crisis facing our world, nation, state, and local community, will hold a 100 person or less funeral service for their loved one with interment immediately following. While the Boatwright family would love to be surrounded by your presence, they acknowledge the health risks to family, church members, friends, and particularly to those who are most vulnerable to this disease, the elderly, and those with chronic health conditions.
