~ Obituary ~
Violet Grant was born on November 23, 1931. She was the sixth child born to the late Lawrence and Viola Kinson Grant. As the youngest of six children, she received an abundance of attention from her parents and siblings.
Violet accepted Christ as her Saviour at an early age and joined St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church. She was an active member and enjoyed helping wherever needed. She could always be counted on to give assistance. She enjoyed singing on the choir.
She was a loving person who was eager to please those in charge. Violet was an excellent housekeeper and cook. She loved children. However, she would not tolerate rude behavior.
During her Mom’s illness, she assisted with her mother’s care. At the death of her Mother, Violet moved in with her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Rainey Hughes. She helped in rearing their two children, Carolyn and Aaron. According to Aaron, she became their “second mother.” She assisted with Mr. & Mrs. Hughes’ care when their health began to decline.
At their death, Violet went to live with her niece, Mrs. Lizzie Weaver Buggs.
She lived with Liz until her health began to decline. At which time, she became a resident of Mullins Nursing Center in Mullins, South Carolina.
She later joined Friendship A.M.E. Church, where she continued to praise God.
Violet had a great memory. She would remind you of prior commitments and things “you had promised to do.”
She loved “looking good,” from her hair, jewelry, to her nails, and shoes. Her outfit must have “style.” She would remind you “that looks too old, for me.”
Violet enjoyed nothing more than being with her nieces and nephews at “Family Gatherings.”
She leaves to share warm-loving memories, one sister and brother-in-law Gladys (Samuel) Hughes of Gresham, South Carolina, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
We miss you Violet, your quiet smile, your laughter, your quiet ways! You are in our hearts forever!
With much love and countless Memories,
Your Heart-Broken
