Public viewing will be held at the Jackson & McGill Memorial Chapel on Thursday August 11, 2022, 2:00 pm -7:00 pm
Funeral services are scheduled to be held at the CD Joyner Auditorium on Friday August 12, 2022 at 11:00 am. She will be laid to rest at Devotion Gardens Cemetery, Mullins. Services will be live-streamed on the Jackson & McGill Facebook Page.
Celebrating the Life of Valerie Huggins Graves
July 2, 1952 - August 6, 2022
Mrs. Valerie Huggins Graves was born in Brooklyn, NY on July 2, 1952. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earnestine Huggins and George Fleming. God sent his angels for our beloved Valerie on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at her home.
She was educated in Marion County Public Schools and graduated from Johnakin High School in 1970.
Valerie accepted Christ at an early age. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church and later joined Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Brittons Neck, SC. She was a dedicated Christian who served in several capacities and also enjoyed serving and praising the Lord through song.
On May 13, 1972, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Reverend Frederick Graves and to this union, three children were born. Valerie loved cooking, singing and spending time with family and friends.
Those left to cherish Sis Graves’ memory and celebrate her life include her loving husband of 50 years, Reverend Frederick F. Graves of the home; three faithful sons, Terry (Sonya) Graves of Florence, SC, Reverend Frederick G. (Anitra) Graves of Simpsonville, SC, Deacon Cornelius (Pam) Graves of Florence, SC; two stepsons, Derrick McCoy of Raleigh, NC, Andre Sparks of Marion, SC; special sons, The Glendale Boys; eight grandchildren who affectionately called her Nana, Dylan, Jaslyn, Jalyn, Gregory, Bryson, Gabriel, Gabrielle and Greyson; four sisters, Dell Marie (Aundry) Bowens of Marion, SC, Glendora Evans of Marion, SC, LaConnia Fleming, Claire Goodman; two brothers, George Fleming, Reverend W. Gregory (Kim) Fleming, all of Philadelphia, PA; two cousins who were like brothers, Tim (Elsie) Nelson of Brooklyn, NY, Harold Nelson of Barnegat, NJ; one sister in love, Deborah Graves of Sarasota, FL; a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles, aunts, church families and friends. If you knew Valerie, you felt that you had a special place in her heart.
