Theodore Gurley Jr.

Brother Theodore Gurley was 67, and departed this life Tuesday October 10, in Marion County. You may visit the family at 925 Jones Ave. Apt. C, Marion, SC. 

Funeral services are scheduled to be held at the Mt. Olive Seventh Day Adventist Church on Friday October 20, at 11:00 am. He will be laid to rest at Florence National Cemetery.

Obituary 

Mr. Theodore Gurley Jr. (aka Teddy) departed this life on October 10, 2023, at MUSC Marion, in Marion, South Carolina. Teddy was born to the late Theodore (Sr.) and Doretha Gurley on September 24, 1956 in Marion County. He was the fifth of eight children. Theodore Jr. was a graduate of the class of 1975 at Marion High School. After graduation he chose his career to serve in the United States Marines. He was extremely proud of the experience of traveling and seeing other countries.

He left this world to follow those preceded before him, parents: Theodore (Sr.) and Doretha Gurley, three sisters: Ruth Ellen Godbolt, Diane Godbolt, and Jessie Elaine Gurley, one grandson: Eli’sha Gurley, four nephews: Jerry (Jr.) Godbolt, Travis Gurley, Ira Godbolt, and Prince Kingly Tywan Gurley, two great nieces: Shyneisha Gurley Aiken and Kierra Shontia Davis.

Teddy leaves behind to cherished in loving memories his three sons: Elijah, [Vickie Gurley] Jasper, and Westley, one grandson Eli Gurley, one  granddaughter: Mila Dion Gurley, his special friend and  companion for 40 years Sarah Knowlin his two loving sisters: Irene E. Williams (Hezekiah, Sr.), and Ruth Ella Gurley of Marion, SC; two loving brothers: Walter Gurley of Columbia, SC and Lewis A. Gurley (Honise) of Lawton, Oklahoma; nieces and nephews: Hezerena, Hezekiah Jr., Dionne, Durwin (Nazdia) Gurley, Donna (Donyell) Braddy, Perry, James, Clinton, Nisha, Ashley, Curtis (Michelle) Gurley, Denise, Dennis Jr., Ruby, Ruth Ellen, [aka] Fanny Mary Ellen, as well as a host of other nieces, nephews, close relatives and friends.
