Sis. Thelma Smith,72, departed this life on Thursday March 1, 2018 in Florence County. She was the sister of Velma Leonard, Juanita Smith and Beatrice Leonard. You may visit the family at the home of her sister Velma Leonard at 5218 Bluff Rd., Mullins.
Funeral services are scheduled to be held at the New Hope Holiness Church, Rains Thursday March 8, 2018 at 2:00pm. She will be laid to rest in the New Graveyard Cemetery, Marion.

Sis. Thelma Smith was born in Marion County on March 16, 1945, the fifth child of six children to be born to the late Hoyt and Lillie Smith.
Sis Thelma, often called “Coot” departed this life on Thursday March 1, 2018.
She attended the public schools of Rains, South Carolina and was a homemaker. One who enjoyed serving the Lord and attending New Hope Holiness Church where she was a member and attended faithfully until her health failed. Often she could be heard singing, “ You got to have clean hands and a pure heart.”
Thelma was preceded in death by her brother: Hoyt Smith Jr., a brother-in-law: Stanley Leonard, three nephews; Larry D. Smith, Michael Smith and Stevie Smith.
She leaves to cherish her fond and loving memories her sisters; Beatrice Marie Leonard, Velma (Henry) Leonard and Juanita Smith, one sister-in-law Lenora Smith, one aunt; Beatrice Richardson of Largo Florida and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. A special thanks to the Staff of Honorage Nursing Home in Florence South Carolina for all that they did for our loved lone.
