~ Obituary ~

Sandra Dean was probably best known for her infectious smile, her beautiful singing voice, and her sweet, loving spirit. She lived to love. She was born January 9, 1979, in New York to the late Mr. Glenwood Dean and Ms. Cassandra McKelvy. She departed this life on Wednesday, October 14, 2020.

Sandra attended the Marion County Public Schools. She also attended Francis Marion University and Florence-Darlington Technical College. Sandra was such a loving personality. She especially loved her family, her students, singing, and cooking. She devoutly loved her Pastors, Bishop Michael & Pastor Malinda Blue, and her church family, The Door of Hope Christian Church. She even loved watching old sitcoms, and she certainly loved and spending time with her niece, Lyric.

Sandra gave her life to the Lord as a teenager in 1994 and joined The Door of Hope Christian Church. From that time, she lovingly, passionately, served within many ministry auxiliaries: The Voices of Hope Sanctuary Choir, Praise & Worship, Youth Ministry, Media Ministry, and the Wedding Coordination Ministry. Sandra also served as an Adjutant and as an Assistant in the Fiscal Accounting department. Sandra headed the Operation Christmas Child project every year, and she had great passion for the persecuted Church. Sandra prayed consistently and intentionally for Christians worldwide who were persecuted for their faith and was a faithful reader and supporter of The Voice of the Martyrs magazine and ministry. Anywhere she could serve, she would, and there was no limit of time that stopped her. She was a committed person who was always supportive of others and enthusiastically celebrative of them. All of this illustrates the kind of loving heart she had.

Sandra was employed by the Marion County School District and the Pee Dee Community Action Agency Headstart. Here, her tender love for children was her heartbeat. For many years, those within the ministry and within her family were blessed by her babysitting services – Bishop and Pastor Blue fondly recall how graciously she took care of their children. She served as a substitute teacher within the Marion County School District for many years, and Sandra most recently served as a Headstart teacher.

Sandra Dean leaves to cherish her memories and legacy of love, her mom, Mother Cassandra McKelvy of Marion, South Carolina; her sisters: Glenda (Samuel) Midgette of Marion, South Carolina, Markesha (Kenny) Davis of Columbia, South Carolina; Annette Dean of Philadelphia, PA, Janil Dean and Michele Douglas of New York, NY. Her special niece: Lyric Midgette; her aunts: Claudia Burch, Althea Gause and Juliet Smith all of Marion, South Carolina and Darrie Ross of Charleston; her uncles: Glen (Sharon) McZeek and Bishop Jimmy Earl (Dessie) McKelvy, along with a host of loving relatives and friends.
