Sally Williamson Obituary

Sister Sally Frances Williamson was 76 and departed this life on Thursday February 18, 2021 in Florence County. She was the mother of Gregory Williamson and Gwendolyn Williamson. You may visit the family Saturdays and Sundays between the hours of 12:00 noon-5:00pm and Monday -Wednesday between the hours of 4:00pm and 7:00 pm.

Funeral services are scheduled to be held at the Jackson & McGill Memorial Chapel on Thursday February 25, 2021 at 11:00 am. She will be laid to rest at the Devotion Gardens Cemetery. Services will be live-streamed on the Jackson & McGill Facebook Page. 

~ Obituary ~

Mother Sally “Bunch” Williamson, 76 departed this earthly life on Thursday, February 18, 2021 in McLeod Hospice House, Florence, South Carolina. She was born on November 9, 1944 in Marion County, South Carolina to the late Jasper and Hazel Boatwright Williamson.  

Sally attended the public schools of Pleasant Grove Elementary School and graduated from Johnakin High School in the Class of 1963.

At an early age, Sally joined the Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church.  She enjoyed attending worship service and Bible Study.  She could be seen standing up giving God all the praise and all the glory. She was a member of the Missionary Ministry, Sunday School, and the Little Pee Dee Women’s Association.

After graduation, she worked at Jamesway Distribution Center in Cranbury, New Jersey from 1977-1995, Laidlaw Transit in Hackensack, New Jersey from 1998-2005 where she retired. She later returned home in Mullins, South Carolina in 2006 and was employed at Marion County Administration Office, Marion, South Carolina until her health began to fail. 

During her seventy-six years on this earth, Sally made an enormous impact on her family.  She taught many life lessons, which she instilled in her children and grandchildren.   

Bunch was preceded in death along with her parents; three brothers: Jasper Jr, Willie Mitchell and Earnest Lee, and a sister: Shirley Jean Simmons.

Bunch leaves to cherish her legacy and loving memories ~ her daughter: Gwendolyn Williamson of the home; her son: Gregory Williamson of Charleston, SC; her grandchildren: Rodney {Klenia} Williamson of Georgia, David Smith of New Jersey, Antoinette Williamson, Markette Williamson both of Mullins, SC; a great-grandson: Lashau Zaire of Georgia; her sister: Celia Mae Johnson of Williamstown, NJ; a god-son: Ive Smith and a god-daughter: Angie Hurley; a special cousin: Jean Tart Grant and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and supportive friends.

The family of Sister Sally Frances Williamson in consideration of the current health crisis facing our world, nation, state and local community, has decided to hold a private 50 people or less, family only, funeral service for their loved one with private interment immediately following. While the Williamson family would love to be surrounded by your presence, they acknowledge the health risks to family, church members, friends, and particularly to those who are most vulnerable to this disease, the elderly and those with chronic  health conditions. What the family needs most at this time are your prayers and understanding. Thank you for your concern and cooperation.
