Brother Rufus Graves Jr. was 74, and departed this life Wednesday January 11, in Conway SC. He was the husband of Arlene Graves. You may visit the family at 152 Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. Gresham.
Funeral services are scheduled to be held at the Bethel AME Church, Britton's Neck on Monday January 16, at 10:00 am. He will be laid to rest at Old Neck Cemetery. Services will be live-streamed on the Jackson & McGill Facebook Page.

Mr. Rufus “Nat” Graves was born on July 3,1948 in Norfolk, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents Rufus (Dorothy) Graves and Ellen H. (George) Gause. Rufus began his eternal rest on January 11, 2023 at the home of his daughter, Danna Flora.
Rufus was a member of Bethel High School’s graduating class of 1967 in Britton’s Neck, South Carolina.
Rufus was a member of Bethel A.M.E Church of Britton’s Neck, South Carolina.
Rufus was employed by Wellman Inc. for 36 years. Rufus retired from Walmart after 10 years of employment. Rufus was a passionate hunter, fisherman and gardener. Rufus was an active member of several social groups including Tabernacle and Bethesda Hunting Clubs.
Rufus was preceded in death by his son, Patrick Graves; siblings Betty Williams, Clayton Gause, Willie Gause and John Henry Gause; and in-law, Pamela Gause.
Rufus was married for 50 years to Mrs. Arlene Graves. He leaves precious memories of his life to be cherished by his beloved children Renee Ceasar, Garrett Graves, Alicia (Kenneth) Muldrow and Danna (John) Flora; six grandchildren that called him PaPa and granddaddy, Kenya Tennie, Jordan Simon Graves, Whitney Muldrow, Cornelius Muldrow, Savannah Flora and Kenson Muldrow; great grandson Rylen Braddy; siblings Elleen (Floyd) Hemingway, Julia Del (Harvey) Gilchrist, Zella Mae (Ervin) Williams, James (Pamela) Rollins Sr, Robert Gause, Christine Taylor, LaTonia (Van) Floyd, Leonder (Carlene) Graves, Terrance Graves and Tammy Graves; aunts Linda Hemingway and Joann Hemingway; great-aunt Christine Gause; six in-laws; special friends, Elijah (Big Boy) Graves, Jr., and Donna Graves; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles, family and friends.
The family of Brother Rufus Graves Jr. in consideration of the current health crisis facing our world, nation, state, and local community, will hold a 100 person or less funeral service for their loved one with interment immediately following. While the Graves family would love to be surrounded by your presence, they acknowledge the health risks to family, church members, friends, and particularly to those who are most vulnerable to this disease, the elderly, and those with chronic health conditions. What the family needs most at this time are your prayers and understanding. Thank you for your concern and cooperation.
