~ Obituary ~
Robert (Bobby) Hemingway was the second born of seven children of Jimmy and Ethis Hemingway in Rains, South Carolina on June 7, 1935. He departed this life for his eternal home on Saturday, February 6, 2021. He was educated in the public schools of Marion County, South Carolina.
He moved to Newark, NJ at an early age and worked for a TV electronic shop. Then eventually he was employed with Garden State Brickface & Stucco Company for many years. Then he moved to Charlotte, NC and was employed with Austin Insulating Co. and retired in 1997. Then he worked with Service Master part time for 2 years.
He was a member of Steele Creek AMEZ Church for over 25 years where he was a class leader and vice president and choir member of the Camp Meeting Choir. He had a great interest in traveling and vacationing with family. His hobbies were singing, fishing, arts and crafts, gardening vegetables and growing his favorite Rooster Combs Flowers.
His philosophy about life is that there may be a limitation to knowledge; but no limitation to the imagination.
He proved that man with a penny can be happier and enjoy far more things in life than a man with a million.
He was preceded in death by his brother: Bernie Hemingway, Theodore (Sonny) Hemingway and Cleo (Bo) Hemingway.
He leaves to mourn his wife Vanessa H. Hemingway and his children: Robert Anthony (Natalyn) Hemingway, Steven (Robin) Hemingway, Artis M. (Natasha) Hemingway, Latitia Nicole Harris, Bobby Jimmel Hemingway and Ulysses Blake Hemingway. Six grandchildren, brothers; Rev. McKever (Lucille) Hemingway and Elder Maceo (Rosalie) Hemingway, sister; Beverly (James) Davis, sisters-in-laws; Virginia Hemingway and Judy Hemingway. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. Three dear friends: Joe Clark, Paul Stinson and Nhieu Van Nguyen.
