The Obituary

The Lord is close to the broken hearted and save those who are crushed in spirit. Psalams 34:18

Richard Lee Crawford Sr, known to many as Rick, was born on September 23, 1960, to the late Richard Sherwood Crawford and Shirley Ann Riggins-Crawford in the city of Marion, SC. Rick accepted Christ at an early age and joined Bethelham AME church in Rains, SC. He was also a member of the community prayer band. Rick received his education in the Marion County public school and attended Rains Centenary High School where he later graduated with the glass of 1978. In that same year, upon graduation, he enlisted into the U.S. Army as a combat observer and controller. During his career Richard toured several different states and countries where he did what he loved most, being of service to the people. He also studied criminology with Troy State University.

Rick was very passionate and had a love for auto mechanics. He also had a giving heart and he loved to make people laugh. He was a natural born problem solver who loved a challenge. Nine years into his military career he met and married Barbara Ann Jordan. A year later they both gave their lives to Christ and never looked back. He was not only a dedicated soldier in the US Army but also a dedicated soldier in the army of the Lord. He served in many roles within each ministry that he became a part of.

He was a faithful member of Shekinah Tabernacle, where he served as a deacon and a member of the finance committee under the leadership of Pastors Pamela and Winston Gardner Sr of Augusta, GA. He would often talk about his plans of starting a car ministry, where he would work on fix single mother’s cars at no charge.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory his wife Barbara A. Jordan-Crawford; his children Anita Gist of Augusta, GA; Shanice Crawford of Hephzibah, GA; Richard Crawford Jr of Hephzibah, GA; grandchildren Kaylehb (KK), Keylan (JuJu), Jasmine (Jazz), James, and Jade (preceded him in death). Two brothers Leslie (Tosha) Crawford of Rains, SC; Frederick Crawford of Rains, SC; one sister Sheryl (Blake) Lewis (preceded him in death). Goddaughter Tashekia Williams of Marion SC; godsons Dakarai Harmon of Newnan, GA; Joshua Haynes of Waynesboro, GA; Eric Moody of Marion, SC. He also leaves behind a host of relatives, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
