Rachel Owens

Mother Rachel Owens, 89, departed this life Tuesday January 8, 2019 in Horry County. She was the mother of Annie Bethel, Al Davis, Harold Davis and Gloria Davis the grandmother of Johnny Davis.

Funeral services are scheduled to be held at the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, Marion at 2:00 pm Sunday January 13, 2019. She will be laid to rest in the Old Ford Cemetery, Friendship Community.

Mrs. Rachel Owens was the daughter of the late Henry & Ethel (Reed) Phillips of Friendship, SC. She was born in Lake City, SC on September 11, 1940. She entered into eternal rest on Tuesday January 8, 2019 at the home.

Rachel attended the public schools of Marion county and graduated 1958. After which she continued her education at Marion Vocational School Earned a degree as a Nurse. Employed with Marion Memorial Hospital until she retired. She later married Hubert Owens (20 yrs) until his death. Rachel was well known. She had a smile that brightens everyone’s heart. She helped anyone in need. Loved all kids, precede her death is one daughter Joyce Ann McClellan, one brother Lee Phillips, one son Carol Davis, and one grandson Stewart McClellan.

Rachel leaves to cherish her fond & loving memory, 2 daughters: Annie (John) Bethea, of Conway SC, Gloria Davis Newark NJ. 3 sons: Al Davis of Monroe NC, Harold Davis of Conway SC & Johnny (Daphne) Davis of Myrtle Beach SC. 2 Son in Laws: Marvin McClellan . 1 sister: Rebecca Tennie of Newark NJ. 5 Nieces: Mary Tennie, Maecile Shaw, Diane Fullah, Verlene Brown, & Penny Jones. One Nephew: Furman Davis Jr. 11 grandkids: Marvette McClellan, John ( Nirita) Bethea, Frenchmon Bethea, Marvin McClellan of Myrtle Beach SC, Tiffany (Wayne) Davis of Marion SC, Allen Davis of Houston TX, Tye Davis, Suzanne Deveney, Sowella Paige, & Dominque Davis of Newark NJ. 16 great grand kids: Yasmine Peterson, Kymoze Bethea, French- mon Bethea Jr, Ty’Asja Lewis, Trina Bethea, Kewan McClellan, Keymorah McClellan, Keyana McClellan, Jahanna Bethea, John Bethea Jr, Donnekkia Davis, Jewell Allen, Santonia Allen, Jahiem Bethea, Truisha Ellis, & Al-Jamir Davis. 5 Great Great Grands: Cynniah Allen, Nakiyah Fryson, Zaniyah Fryson, Journi Allen, & Chaise Johnson. An adopted daughter Daisy Allen. A special Caregiver Roxann McDonald. A host of other close relatives and friends.
