Nathan Stanley Obituary

Brother Nathan Henry Stanley was 71, and departed this life of Friday September 11, 2020 in Florence County. He was the father of Teressa Davis, Anna Stanley, Danielle Stanley, Sharon Stanley-Rice and Nathan Henry Stanley Jr. You may visit the family at 111 Planters Ridge Court, Marion.

Graveside services are scheduled to be held at the Devotion Gardens Cemetery on Saturday September 26, 2020 at 12:00 pm. Services will be live stream on the Jackson & McGill Facebook Page. The family will provide a guest list.

Nathan Henry Stanley, the son of the late Rosa S. Lester and Hilbert Stanley was born January 3, 1949 in Marion, SC. Nathan made his departure from this earthly life on Friday September 11, 2020 at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, SC. 

Nathan was educated in the public schools of Marion County. He enlisted into the Army for one term. He worked numerous jobs in Marion County throughout his life. The most recent job was Maintenance Supervisor with Marion County Housing Authority where he retired in 2013. 

Nathan was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Bobbie Jean Davis Stanley on June 22, 1978. This union was blessed with four beautiful daughters and three sons. 

Nathan was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Rosa S. Lester, Hilbert Stanley, Daniel James Mack and Maurice Edward Stanley. 

Nathan enjoyed fishing with his brother, Gene and other friends. However, his pride and joy were his children, grandchildren and great-grand’s. Nothing made him happier than spending time with family and friends.  

Nathan leaves his legacy of memories to be cherished and forever remembered by his four daughters, Teresa Davis of the home, Anna and Danielle Stanley of Marion, SC and Sharon (Hardy) Stanley-Rice of Marion, SC; and three sons Nathan (Shirley) Stanley, Jr. of Magnolia, NJ, Shawn Davis of Myrtle Beach, SC, and James (Rachel) Stanley of Marion, SC. He had 26 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, which he was affectionately known as PaPa. He leaves one brother Gene H. Stanley and two sisters Judy L. Covington and Audrey L. Furness all of Marion, SC; one sister-in-law, Marie Davis of Delray Beach, FL; one brother-in-law, Howard Moody of Sellers, SC; three aunts, Sarah M. Alston of Philadelphia, PA, Vernell Moore of Columbia, SC and Willie Mae Evans of Delray Beach, FL; one uncle, John (Minnie) Moore of Atco, NJ; one great uncle, Marvin (Magalene) Rowell; two great aunts Anne Mae Rowell and Betty Lou Rowell all of Marion, SC; one very special friend Willie B. Alford (Mr. B), one special niece Regina P. Stanley and one special niece/granddaughter Dorothy “Becky” Furness both of Marion, SC; along with a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. 

The family of Brother Nathan Henry Stanley, in consideration of the current health crisis facing our world, nation, state and local community, has decided to hold a private 50 people or less, family only, funeral service for their loved one with private interment immediately following. While the Stanley family would love to be surrounded by your presence, they acknowledge the health risks to family, church members, friends, and particularly to those who are most vulnerable to this disease, the elderly and those with chronic  health conditions. What the family needs most at this time are your prayers and understanding. Thank you for your concern and cooperation.
