Miranda Turner-Davis Obituary

Sister Miranda Shelia Turner Davis was 56, and departed this life Friday December 27, 2019 in Florence County. She was the wife of Dennis Davis. You may visit the family 858 Gresham Rd. Gresham.

Funeral services are scheduled to be held at the Bethel AME Church, Britton's Neck Thursday January 2, 2020 at 1:00 pm. She will be laid to rest in the Old Neck Cemetery, Britton's Neck.

     Miranda S. Davis was born in Williamsburg County in 1963 to the late Bobby Pressley and Lela Mae Turner. She was reared by her grandparents the late Samuel and Janie Turner.

    Miranda graduated with the Class of 1981 from Hemingway High School. After graduation, she moved to New York in 1985 to further her education at an accounting school and worked for Manufactured Hanover Bank from 1986 - 1989. She moved back to South Carolina in 1989 and married the love of her life, Dennis S. Davis.

     Miranda joined Bethel AME Church and worked in many capacities: YPD Director, Church Secretary, Usher Board, Lay President, WMS President, Lockhart Jubilee Choir Advisor, Christian Education and the Health Committee. On the district level she helped with the Graves Mass Choir. During the summer you could always find her working the Summer Feeding Program.

     She worked as a substitute teacher for Marion School District Four and Marion School District Seven for several years. She also worked for Marion County Voter Registration.

     Preceding her in death are her parents, grandparents and son Shay.

     Miranda leaves to cherish fond and loving memories her husband Dennis Davis; two daughters: Michelle Davis and Desiree Davis both of Britton’s Neck, SC; two grandchildren: Dallas Davis and Journee Davis; one sister: Selma Lightfoot; one brother: Carlton (Pamela) Singletary; four aunts: Venice Singletary, Cleo Turner, Sandy Dusseau-Turner and Joane Turner; mother-in-law: Lucenia Davis; brother-in-law: Larry (Queen) Davis; sister-in-law: Geraldine Sindab; goddaughters: Taylor James and Shadonna Anderson; godmother: Mary Lou Graves; special friends: Denese Curry, Mary Woodberry and Angela Pressley and a host of special nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
