Mother Mary Scott was 95, and departed this life Sunday March 21, 2021 in Marion County.

Graveside services are scheduled to be held at the Jackson & Daughters Cemetery on Thursday March 25, 2021 at 2:00 pm. Services will be live stream on the Jackson & McGill Facebook Page.

~ Obituary ~

Mother Mary Lee Scott departed this life Sunday March 25, 2021 at the Mullins Nursing Center, Mullins, SC. She was born June 22, 1925 a daughter of the late Edward and Rossa Legette.

Mother Mary attended the public schools of Marion County. She was employed as a nurse with Finger Clinic and Marion Memorial Hospital. She was a lifelong member of the Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church, her services there was singing on the choir, Pastors Aide Ministry, Flower Ministry and Hospitality Ministry.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Artis Scott, her son Artis Scott Jr. one sister Edna Foxworth, two brothers; Nathaniel Legette and Edward Legette Jr. 

She leaves to cherish her fond and loving memories her caretakers; Mr. & Mrs. Louie Perkins and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Don’t spend much time in mourning. Tears are for the sad, I left to be with the Creator, And this should make you glad. Don’t vex yourself with questions, Or try to reason why life here for me has been ended, And it came my time to die. Don’t lose the love I gave you, Feed it with spiritual care, Grow it with devotion, And spread it everywhere. Don’t fret because my leaving came in such a way, We’ll have another meeting in God’s eternal day.

The family of Mother Mary Scott in consideration of the current health crisis facing our world, nation, state and local community, has decided to hold a private 50 people or less, family only, funeral service for their loved one with private interment immediately following. While the Scott family would love to be surrounded by your presence, they acknowledge the health risks to family, church members, friends, and particularly to those who are most vulnerable to this disease, the elderly and those with chronic  health conditions. What the family needs most at this time are your prayers and understanding. Thank you for your concern and cooperation.
