Mother Lula Mae Davis was 87, and departed this life on Sunday September 20, 2020 in Marion County. She was the mother of Ernestine Graves and Marcia Johnson. You may visit the family at 206 E. Liberty St. Marion.

Graveside services are schedule to be held at the Devotion Gardens Cemetery on Friday September 25, 2020 at 12:00 pm. Services will be live stream on the Jackson & McGill Facebook Page.

~ Obituary ~

Mother Lula Mae Davis was born in Marion County, South Carolina on October 8, 1932 to the late Ernest Davis and Gertrude Mason-Davis. Mother Lula transitioned to her new home on Sunday, September 20, 2020 at Marion MUSC Health, Marion, South Carolina.  

Lula Mae attended and graduated from Marion County Training School in Marion, South Carolina. After graduation she worked as a live-in maid in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina for some years, and later she began working at So-Pack-Co, Inc. in Mullins, South Carolina where she retired after twenty plus years. After retiring she decided to go back to work because she loved working, and began working at Marion Memorial Hospital as a Kitchen Aide until she decided to retire from that job.  

Mother Lula was a faithful member of the Bethel Word Church in Mullins, South Carolina under the leadership of Pastor Vivian Troy.  She loved singing, cooking, shopping, riding with her daughters on the weekends, and enjoyed her five generations of grandchildren.

Mother Lula was preceded in death along with her parents; her husband: Johnny Davis; a grandson: Barry Alford, and a second mother: Reverend Laura Nichols.

Mother Lula Mae leaves to cherish her life and legacy ~ two daughters: Ernestine {James} Graves and Marcia D. Johnson both of Marion, SC; five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren; her special cousins: Celestine Crawford and Bernard Gerald; her special friends: Barbara Smith, Lillie Mae Legette, Donna Perkins and Josie Wilson and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family of Mother Lula Mae Davis in consideration of the current health crisis facing our world, nation, state and local community, has decided to hold a private 50 people or less, family only, funeral service for their loved one with private interment immediately following. While the Davis family would love to be surrounded by your presence, they acknowledge the health risks to family, church members, friends, and particularly to those who are most vulnerable to this disease, the elderly and those with chronic  health conditions. What the family needs most at this time are your prayers and understanding. Thank you for your concern and cooperation.
