Jessie Mae Branton Abraham was born in Charleston, SC on November 9, 1941, to Jessie and Aldemena Davis Branton. She was educated in the public schools of Marion County and graduated from Terrel’s Bay High School in Centenary, SC.
On September 5, 1964, she married Chester Abraham and to this union, one child was born, Otis. During her working life, she worked in the hospital system of Newark, N. J. She later worked at Economy Color Card, a card printing company. In her free time, she enjoyed attending her son’s basketball games and later in life, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grands.
She lived a simple life and loved her family dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Chester, and a sister-in-law, Mary Hughes.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her son and daughter-in-law, Otis and Shanise Abraham, three grandchildren: Amber Ransdell, Azuri Abraham, and Aniyah Williams, four great-grandchildren: Messiah Ransdell, Adrian & Anna Roman, and Nova Durkin all of Phillipsburg, NJ; a sister-in-law: Cora Nicholson (husband-Jessie) of Columbia, SC and a dear friend, Mrs. Eva Williams (mother of Shanise) of Phillipsburg, NJ; a dear companion, Roy Peart of Newark, NJ, and his children: Natalie and Nathan Peart of Elizabeth, NJ; two special sister/cousins: Junita Goode of Rock Hill, SC and Betty Jackson of Manning, SC, two dear friends: Gloria and Hank Burch of Plainfield, NJ, a special daughter/cousin: Kim Stewart; and a host of nieces, nephews, others relatives, and friends.
