Bro. Jawan Rakim Gregg was 31, and departed this life on Thursday June 18, 2020 in Horry County. He was the son of John Williams, the grand son of Geraldine Small and Leana Williams.

Graveside services are scheduled to be held at the St. James AME Church Cemetery on Thursday June 25, 2020 at 12:00 pm. 

Obituary

Jawan Rakim Gregg was born on December 19, 1988, to the late Tonya Denise Gregg Brown and John T. Williams, Jr. in Charlotte, North Carolina.

He departed this life on Thursday, June 18, 2020. Jawan attended the public schools in Marion County and Horry County. He later joined the United States Army where he furthered his education and training. Following his military service, he attended Midland Technical College in Columbia, SC studying welding. He enjoyed working in the welding and construction industry. He cherished working with his aunt and uncle in the construction industry. 

Jawan was preceded in death by his mother, and late paternal grandfather, John T. Williams. 

Jawan leaves to cherish precious memories to his daughters, Jewel Gregg and Rozzo Cordoza; his father, John Williams, Jr., of Columbia, South Carolina; maternal grandparents Geraldine & Benjamin Small of Myrtle Beach, SC, paternal grandmother, Leanna Williams; spiritual godmother, Bernice Williams of Gresham, SC; two brothers, James Cly- burn and William Brown of Marion SC; one sister, Alicia Shannon (Shawn) of Lake Villa, Illinois; two aunts, Tashia Small of Jacksonville Florida and Cheryl Williams of Florence, SC; one uncle, Eric Williams of Nichols, SC; special friends, Tameka Stanley and Tyquasha Bennett; thirty-six first cousins; and a host of other loving relatives and friends. 

The family of Bro. Jawan Rakim Gregg, in consideration of the current health crisis facing our world, nation, state and local community, has decided to hold a private 50 people or less, family only, funeral service for their loved one with private interment immediately following. While the Gregg family would love to be surrounded by your presence, they acknowledge the health risks to family, church members, friends, and particularly to those who are most vulnerable to this disease, the elderly and those with chronic  health conditions. What the family needs most at this time are your prayers and understanding. Thank you for your concern and cooperation.
