James Edward Cross, Jr.

Brother James Edward Cross, Jr. was 34 and departed this life on Thursday, March 2, 2023, in Marion County. He was the son of Sonia Hughes Cross and the late James Cross, Sr.

Public viewing will be Friday March 10, 2:00pm -6:00pm at the Jackson & McGill Memorial Chapel.

Funeral services are scheduled to be held at the Jackson & McGill Memorial Chapel on Saturday, March 11, at 2:00 pm. He will be laid to rest at Jackson & Daughters Cemetery.

~ The Obituary~ 

James E. “Pooh” Cross Jr was born on September 8, 1988, in Marion, SC to Sonia Hughes-Cross and the late James E. Cross Sr. He was educated in the Marion Public School system. James was employed as a brick mason, and he also worked in manufacturing. He was an overall great person to be around, loved to make people laugh, and was a wonderful father to his kids whom he loved dearly.  

James is proceeded in death by his father James E. Cross Sr, his uncle Major Lee Cross, his great-grandmother Velma Byrd-Sanders, and his grandparents Major & Barbara Cross. 

James leaves behind to cherish his memories to his mother Sonia Hughes-Cross, grandparents Lela & Johnny Lee Williams, and children Jana Sanders of Marion, Semaj Cross of Marion, and Xavier Cross also of Marion. His brothers Royce (Kathrin) Hughes, Maurice (Latasha) Hughes, Reginal Evans, and Michael (Celebrity) Woodberry. His aunt Nancy Davis, and a special grandmother figure Hazel Dingle. One Special sister Lakela Graves-Reaves, and special aunt Vickey Davis. His uncles Earl Rowell, Thomas Hughes, Reginald Hughes, Willie Hughes, Anthony Hughes, Tirell Hughes, David Wilson Jr., Chris Cross, Felton Cross, Sandra Cross and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
