Horace Rogers Obituary

Brother Horace Lee Rogers was 65, and departed this life Tuesday January 26, 2021 in Marion, SC. He was the father of Deidre Bennett, Vernita Rogers and Bradley Rogers. Due to the pandemic the family will not be receiving visitors at the home. 

Graveside services are scheduled to be held at the Old Neck Cemetery on Wednesday February 3, 2021 at 1:00 pm. Services will be live streamed on the Jackson & McGill Facebook Page.

Horace Lee Rogers, son of the late Daniel Rogers Jr. and Rosa Lee Gause Rogers, was born on April 21, 1955 in Marion County, South Carolina. He departed this life on Tuesday, January 26 at MUSC Hospital System, Marion South Carolina.

He attended Marion County Public Schools. He was employed at Dubose Rockwell, and Myrtle Beach City Plumbing. He was a humble, respectful, and outgoing person. He was an avid fisherman.

Horace joined the Red Hill Baptist Church at an early age.

He was preceded in death, his wife, Joann Rogers, both brothers; Tommy Earl “Mack” Rogers and Bill Rogers; Sisters: Minnie P. Richardson and Mary R. Hemingway.

Horace leaves to cherish fond memories; 2 daughters who faithfully took care of him until the end; Deidre (Sean) Bennett and Vernita Rogers, a son; Bradley (Percina) Rogers; eleven grandchildren: Jakeehem, Hykeeheem, Kanilia(his youngest caregiver), JaMyrie, Taysean, Kena, Kashod, Braquon, Bryan, Brandon, and Jaylayah; Eight sisters: Queen Davis, Evangelist Daphne Bacchus, Judy Rogers, Marilyn Rogers, Connie (Mark) Bryant, Ella (Simone) Wright, Annie (Michael) Mosely and Inell Woodberry; brothers: Darrell (Marie) Rogers, Daniel (Cynthia) Rogers, Jr. Arthur (Lou) Rogers; three sister-in-laws: Sue (James) Bacchus, Gracie Gause, Mary Gause; brother-in-laws: John (Dorothy) Gause, Edgar (Gloria) Gause, Leo Gause; Extremely close Friends: Ervin Bethea, Bryan Powell, Ernie Southern (Buzz), Phillip Hucks, Roy Moore and a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

The family of Horace Rogers in consideration of the current health crisis facing our world, nation, state and local community, has decided to hold a private 50 people or less, family only, funeral service for their loved one with private interment immediately following. While the Rogers family would love to be surrounded by your presence, they acknowledge the health risks to family, church members, friends, and particularly to those who are most vulnerable to this disease, the elderly and those with chronic  health conditions. What the family needs most at this time are your prayers and understanding. Thank you for your concern and cooperation.
