Helen Brigman Obituary

Sister Helen Deloris Brigman 66, departed this life Saturday October 26, 2019 at her residence in Morrisville, NC. She was the mother of Katrina Hardnett, Lakesha Hardnett, Andre Brigman and Donald Hardnett. You may visit the family at 907 Seaboard Ave. Mullins.

Funeral services are scheduled to be held at the St. Paul Baptist Church, Mullins, Saturday November 2, 2019 at 12:30. She will be laid to rest in the Devotion Gardens Cemetery, Mullins.

~ Obituary ~

Ms. Helen D. Brigman, daughter of Lila Mae Evan’s and the late George Washington-Hayes was born on November 10,1952 in Mullins, S.C. She departed her life on October 26,2019 at her place of residence in Morrisville, NC.


Helen was educated at Palmetto High School. She began working at Pee Dee Lodge and remained there for 4 years. After leaving Pee Dee Lodge, she began working at Anvil Knitwear for a short period of time. Helen eventually worked for and then retired from So Pak Co after 27 years. Helen attended First Born Church of Christ where she later became a member. Helen attended faithfully until her health began to fail and she relocated to North Carolina with her daughter.


Helen was a woman of few words, always willing to give help or assist in any way even if it were her last. Her spirit illuminated any room that she entered.


Helen leaves to cherish her fond and loving memories: her mother Lila M. Evans of Mullins,S.C, three aunts: Karen Brigman of Brooklyn,  N.Y., Pauline Brigman of Bronx,  N.Y. and Barbara Brigman of Chadbourn, N.C., two brothers: Earl Evans of Bishopville,S.C & Ray Evans (Hannah) of Columbia, S.C, two sisters Betty J Evans of Mullins,S.C. and Nellie Hayes of Syracuse, N.Y. ,seven children: Thomas Hardnett Jr (Nicole) of Upper Marlboro, MD, Andre Brigman (Stephanie) of Beaufort,S.C., Kenneth Stephen Hardnett of Mullins,S.C,Tamatha Hardnett-Vann (Donald) of Morrisville, N.C. ,Katrina Hardnett of Orlando, FL, Donald Maceo Hardnett of Laurens,S.C. and Lakesha Hardnett of Morrisville, N.C., one niece Gina Evan’s of Columbia, S.C., one nephew Willie Ray Evans Jr of Columbia,S.C. as well as over twenty grandchildren, one great grandchild, cousins and other relatives and friends.


Helen is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Paul Brigman and Katrina Brigman and paternal grandparents Rudolph  Hayes and Missy Hayes, two brother in laws Donald Hardnett (deceased) of Mullins,S.C and James Hardnett (deceased) of Baltimore,  M.D.
