Mr. George Lee Williams departed this life Thursday July 30. 2020 in Marion County. You may visit the family at 121 Marshall St. Marion.

Graveside services are scheduled to be held at the Williams and Laney Cemetery, Gresham on Saturday August 8, 2020 at 3:00pm. Services will be live stream on the Jackson & McGill Facebook Page.  

~ Obituary ~

George Lee Williams was born on March 29, 1950 to the late Edward Williams Sr. and Lessie Davis. George received his early education in Marion, SC from Johnakin High School where he graduated in 1969. He went home with the Lord on July 30, 2020 at his home.

George was raised in Marion County, South Carolina and at an early age became a member of the Mount Pisgah Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Rev. Dr. Henry McGill Jr. George was a former member of the Male Chorus and an active member of Board of Trustees until his health decline. George gave his life to Christ at an early age and remained a humble servant of God. George’s heat was pure and kind to all who knew him and would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it.

George was always one who liked the finer things in life and enjoyed traveling up to New York and Ocean City in his earlier years. He enjoyed politics and the Young and Restless. George would always say if you want anything in life you have to work for it and that’s just what he did until he became disabled. George’s favorite saying was “Do more for other than you do for yourself”.

George leaves to cherish his memory three sisters: Earth Williams Davis of Marion, SC, Gennis Williams of Marion, SC and Doris Flowers of Bloomfield, NJ, two brothers: Jimmy Williams of Mullins, SC and Edward Williams Jr. of Columbia, SC, three paternal aunts: Shirley Boatwright of  Gresham, SC, Roxanne Johnson of Philadelphia, PA and Eloise Graves of Britton’s Neck, SC two maternal aunts: Bessie Mae Wilson of Marion, SC and Havela Lasane of Mullins, SC, special nieces: Alaria (Darryl) Kelly of Augusta, GA, Jessika Leonard of Syracuse, NY, Tiffaney Williams of Gresham, SC and Lil Ms. Milan Williams who is the youngest of the all. Special nephews: Erick (Tamia) Williams of Marion, SC, Priest Williams of Marion, SC, Jamori Pressley of Marion, SC, Christopher Williams of Marion, SC and Edward Williams of Gresham, SC, Michael Leonard of Charleston, SC, and Steven Sparks of Friendship, SC. special cousins: Timothy Lesane and Robert Lesane both of Marion, SC, Queenie Hardy of Virginia, and Albert Davis, of Sumter, SC.

Special friends: Rev. Gregory Johnson of Ocean City, NJ, Reginald Davis of Allentown PA; Cora Lee Samuels. Sandra Robinson, Carolyn Reed, Rosemary Leonard, Christopher Davis and Lewis Foxworth, all of Marion, SC; Jimmy long of Mullins, SC, Sam Brooks of Georgia, Ronald Rowell of Gresham, SC and a host on many other relatives and close friends.

Although George never had children when he went to live with his sister he became the father figure of the home to Melissa (Steven) Williams, Erick (Tamia) Williams and Priest Williams for many years a long side his sister Eartha whom he loved dearly.

The family Mr. George Lee Williams of in consideration of the current health crisis facing our world, nation, state and local community, has decided to hold a private 50 people or less, family only, funeral service for their loved one with private interment immediately following. While the Williams family would love to be surrounded by your presence, they acknowledge the health risks to family, church members, friends, and particularly to those who are most vulnerable to this disease, the elderly and those with chronic  health conditions. What the family needs most at this time are your prayers and understanding. Thank you for your concern and cooperation.
