~ The Life & Legacy Of A Queen ~

The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away. Psalm 90:10

Family and friends, here is a little about my threescore years before I flew away to be at rest. On Thursday August 8, 1946 in Aynor South Carolina-“The Good Master “ blessed my parents, Ruth Vereen Johnson & Truluck Johnson with me Fannie Ruth Johnson. My Mother passed away while I was a baby; leaving my Father to raise me with Louise Knowles known to me as “Momma.” Growing up as young girl in Aynor, I attended Horry County School Systems. I resided in Horry County and attended its schools until I became 16 years of age. After becoming a teen, momma and daddy moved my brothers, sisters and myself to Miami, Florida, were I finished my education at Booker T. Washington Senior High School. As a child and young adult I enjoyed running track, singing and most certainly dancing.

After becoming a adult and taking on the challenge of life I began to work. I’ve held many jobs including working for Miami- Dade County Public Schools at Miami Park Elementary. I enjoyed my tenure there until my retirement. However, out to every job I have ever held, none of them topped being a Mother. I was the best Mother I could possibly be to my children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Each of them were my pride and joy. I also took pride in being the best companion I could be to Robert “Hawk” Brown. Before I move on, let me tell you a little about God, who I called, “The Good Master.” I met Him and accepted Him into my life at an early age. Momma kept us in church. I was proud member of New Providence Missionary Baptist Church where I served on the Usher Board and sang in the choir for many, many years.

Family, no matter what you go through, always trust and believe in God; and fight your battles on your knees. A little more about my story, I’ve raised three generations of children. I’ve made pots and pans rattle; and could bake a mean sweet potato pie. My heart and arms were open to love on and bless anybody that came to me fro help. Oh yeah, let me not forget, when I sat down at the spades table, I didn’t get up until it was time to go home. Why? Because, God was always my dealer and Jesus was my partner. So, I’ve always had the upper hand.

Now, here’s where my threescore years get sad. On Thursday July 4, 2019, my ship came sailing in, and beautiful it was to see. For the Captain was “King Jesus,” and He softly beckoned me. I ran across the freeway, and fell down at His feet. He took me gently in His arms, My rest in now complete. I’m now resting from the gospel of Jesus Christ and I’m resting from my labour of love to mankind.

I leave to cherish my life, love and legacy: my husband, Robert Brown, my children; Victoria Hayes, Willie Hayes, Dermaine Hayes, Tyrone Green, Tasha Green, Tonya Green-Moore, Angela Martin, Kimberley Monroe, Anthony Deliford, John Ragobar and Catherine Hudson. My grandchildren; Aaron Brown, Joseph Brown, Antonio Brown, Tyrone Green Jr., Ty’Marion Green, Ty’Maine Green, Ty’Liyha Green, Shaniya Monroe Sasha Hayes, Dominique Dawkins, Tia Colbert, Alex Hudson, Cody Hudson, Kenyan Taylor, Tyson Donnell, Carlos Jenkins, Jayla Hightower, Dontravius Kinchen, Jowana Preston-Gray and Ty’Juan Kinchen. Great-grandchilren; Don’Kirah Mills, Jayden Brown, Sa’Miyah Wooden. Sisters; Ollie Mae Mann and Mamie Lewis. Brothers; Hubert Truluck Johnson, Esau Johnson and James Lester Johnson. A great host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, extended family and friends. I have always cherished Willie Green, Judy Smith, Caralene Fling, Mamie Davis, Bobby Davis, Tasha Smith Jewel Clark and Felicia Gore. I have joined in Heaven many loved ones. well, here is where my threescore years come to an end, but my love. I know me leaving you all is hard to accept. However, you’ll understand it better bye and bye. My golden heart had stopped beating, my hard working hands are now at rest, God broke your hearts to prove that He only takes the best. I’ll see y’all later, goodnight.
