Brother Earl Boatwright Sr. was 67 and departed this life in Marion County. He was the father of Earl Boatwright Jr.

Graveside services WERE ** scheduled to be held at the St. James AME Church Cemetery on Friday January 15, 2021 at 2:30 pm.

**CHANGE OF LOCATION** DUE TO THE PREDICTION OF RAIN, FUNERAL SERVICES FOR BROTHER EARL BOATWRIGHT, SR. HAVE BEEN MOVED TO THE JACKSON & McGILL MEMORIAL CHAPEL. IN LIGHT OF THE CURRENT PANDEMIC, THIS WILL BE A PRIVATE SERVICE WITH A GUEST LIST OF 50 PEOPLE OR LESS.
BURIAL WILL FOLLOW IN THE ST. JAMES AME CHURCH CEMETERY ARIELS CROSSROAD COMMUNITY, MARION, SC.

~    Obituary ~

Earl Boatwright was born on August 26, 1953 to the late Melba Lee Boatwright aka “Sturbe” and Lee Douglas Boatwright. He departed from his earthly life on Tuesday, January 05, 2021 in his home due to an illness.

Earl was raised in the Bucks Bay area in Rains SC, with his brothers and sisters. He was the 4th of ten children. After graduating High School, he married his high school sweetheart Sandra Faye Davis on July 19,1973. They settled down in Rains, SC. A year later they started their family when their son Earl Boatwright Jr, was born. They later had two more children, a daughter Lawonda Boatwright and a son Dwayne Boatwright. 

Earl worked at an Industrial Plant in Marion, SC. He later went to work at AVM in Mullins, SC where he worked for 43 years until he Retired. 

Earl was blessed with a large and loving family. As a father, he raised his kids with patience, discipline and humility. He taught them how to play basketball and often took them to visit family. He loved fishing and sports. He was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan.

Earl was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Ronnie Boatwright, Timmie Boatwright, and Master Leanda Boatwright. Sister: Barbara Ann James. 

Earl is survived by his wife Sandra Boatwright, his children Earl Boatwright Jr., Lawonda Boatwright, and Dwayne Boatwright all of Rain SC. Brothers: Samuel Rowell of Camden, SC, Lee Voster (Debbie) Boatwright, Michael (Alice) Boatwright, Lee Douglas “DJ” Boatwright Jr. Sisters: Darlene Thompson, and Carolyn Hayes all of Marion, SC. One Aunt: Leona Dixon of Rains, SC. Brother in-law: James Edward Davis of Rains, SC and Kent James of Marion SC. Sister in-law: Paris (Ronald) Richardson of Rains, SC and Edna Teresa (Charles) Sanders of Blackville, SC and A special friend Janet Totten.

Earl had a host of nieces, nephews, many cousins and friends. 

The family of Brother Earl Boatwright Sr., in consideration of the current health crisis facing our world, nation, state and local community, has decided to hold a private 50 people or less, family only, funeral service for their loved one with private interment immediately following. While the Boatwright family would love to be surrounded by your presence, they acknowledge the health risks to family, church members, friends, and particularly to those who are most vulnerable to this disease, the elderly and those with chronic  health conditions. What the family needs most at this time are your prayers and understanding. Thank you for your concern and cooperation.
