Dorothy Davis Obituary

Sister Dorothy Ceaser Davis was 74, and departed this life Monday, January 18, 2021, in Marion County. She was the mother of Jerome "JJ Smith and Samatha Davis, and foster mother to many, many, many kids. You may visit the family at 215 E. Pickens St. Marion.

Due to rain, funeral services are scheduled to be held at the Jackson & McGill Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, January 26, 2021, at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow immediately in the Devotion Gardens Cemetery, Funeral Services will be live-streamed on the Jackson & McGill Facebook Page.

Dorothy Davis was born December 23, 1946 in Marion South Carolina. She was the oldest child of Cennie Ceaser and reared by her Uncle and Aunt Murray and Esther Ceaser , who all preceded her in death. 

She had three brothers; Edward, James and James Allen, four sisters; Eliza Gause, Maey Ellion Legette and Hazeltine Ceaser, sister-in-law; Dorothy Vick Ceaser, South Carloina and Betty Clarke of Atlantic City, NJ. who preceded her in death. 

Dorothy accepted Christ at an early age. She was a member of New Life Holiness Church in Rains, South Carolina, later she moved her membership to Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Marion South Carolina. 

Dorothy was a faithful and supportive member to both ministries. Dorothy was a Choir Director, Junior Missionary and worked closely with the Youth Department. 

Dorothy was a Foster Parent for many years. She fostered as many as sixteen children and later adopted four of them. 

She was employed by Sara Lee Hosiery of Marion County for thirty-two years, she was a dedicated anf faithful employee. 

Dorothy was member of the Flower Club, Missionary Department, Pastors Aide, Daughters of Miriam and The Amicae of Marion.  

She leaves to cherish with fond and loving memories, one birth child son: Jerome (Sharon Sasha) Smith Jr. Of Columbia South Carolina, four daughters: Samantha Davis, Marion, South Carolina, Janella Davis, Florence, South Carolina, Nawsheryl Davis and Jenessa Davis both of Marion, South Carolina, and the Joy of her life grandson Ethan J. Allen, and six other grandchildren; three special god children; Jacqueline Nicole Green, Daniel Ross Fladger and Barbrecia Grant. Brothers; Briscoe  “Jr.” Singleton of Trenton, NJ, Levern (Dorothy D.), Lynn (Joyce) of Marion, SC and Jerome (Mercedes) of Atlantic City, NJ, two special nieces; Sharon Legette and Danita McGill of Marion, SC, one uncle; Sinclair Ceaser of Elwood, NJ, two special friends Ceon and Devonte, a host of other cousins, nieces, nephews and many, many special friends.  

The family of  Sister Dorothy Ceaser Davis in consideration of the current health crisis facing our world, nation, state, and the local community, has decided to hold a private 50 people or less, family only, funeral service for their loved one with private interment immediately following. While the Davis family would love to be surrounded by your presence, they acknowledge the health risks to family, church members, friends, and particularly to those who are most vulnerable to this disease, the elderly, and those with chronic health conditions. What the family needs most at this time are your prayers and understanding. Thank you for your concern and cooperation.
