~ Obituary ~

I have fought a good fight… I have finished my course…I have kept the faith: henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me that day. II Timothy 4:7-8

Father Curtis Lee Taylor finished his life journey on Friday, September 4, 2020 at his home on Bay Road in Britton’s Neck, SC. He was born on January 11, 1932 in Marion County to the late Sam and Dessie Taylor. He attended Bethel School in Britton’s Neck, SC.

In 1955, he found his true love, the late Jannie Rogers Taylor right here in their hometown of Britton’s Neck. They enjoyed their daytime rides, and truly loved doing everything together. Of their union, three sons were born; affectionately known to him as Lo, Rick, and Pete.

He grew spiritually as a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church in Britton’s Neck, SC. He was a faithful member of the Senior Choir and he served as a Trustee.  He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #336 of Britton’s Neck, SC.

Father Taylor had various jobs throughout his life. He served as a medic in United States Army in the Korean War. He was welder and a farmer. He loved planting a garden and providing the community with the produce, especially tomatoes, okras, and watermelons. He was truly a jack of all trades. He shared his many trades with his friends, family and with his community whenever he could. He especially enjoyed his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren during visits. He loved going fishing and working in his shop.

Father Taylor was preceded in death by his wife, his four brothers, and his three sisters.

He leaves to cherish his fond and loving memories- his three sons, Lorenza (Rachelle) Taylor, Ricky (Carnell) Taylor, and Montecello (Angia) Taylor, all of Britton’s Neck, SC; eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law Charley George Rogers of Mullins, SC; six sisters-in-law; Lethea Taylor, Esterlene Taylor, Linda Taylor, Lottie Davis, and Ozella Pressley all of Britton’s Neck, and Barbara Taylor-Best of Mullins, SC,  a special family-friend Sister Mammie Robinson and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
