Carolyn Legette Obituary

Sis. Carolyn Denise Legette, 61 , departed this life on Thursday May 3, 2018 in Marion County. She was the wife of Ernest Legette the mother of Romeo Davis, Gemonica Legette and Brandon Legette. You may visit the family at 2406 South Highway 41-A, Marion.

Funeral services are  scheduled to be held at the St. Mary AME Church, Marion on Thursday May 10, 2018 at 2:00pm. She will be laid to rest in the Devotion Gardens Cemetery, Mullins.

OBITUARY

                                                   ~A Time to be Born~

Carolyn Grant Legette departed this life Thursday May 3, 2018 at the Carolina Hospital of Marion. She was the daughter of the late Lawrence Mack and Katie Mae (Ernest) Cottle.  

                                                    ~ A Time to Grow~

Carolyn was a 1976 graduate of Rains Centenary and former Miss Rains Centenary. She was employed for nineteen years with Sara Lee Hosiery and seventeen years with Jackson & McGill Funeral Service until her health failed. She attended Horry County Georgetown Tech. where she received a certificate in Home Health Care.

In her early years she was a member of the St. James AME Church, Marion. She accepted Christ at an early age. She met and married Earnest Legette and later joined the St. Mary AME Church, where she served as a member and one of the lead singers on the Senior Choir. Carolyn organized the first Praise Dance Team at St. Mary AME Church. She was a faithful member until her health failed.

Carolyn sang with various groups in Marion County. She was a recording artist with the Harmonizing Angels of Marion County. She held the position of Secretary and Program Booker for the group. The group had one CD recording, where she sang songs like “Give Me The Strength” and “He Prayed”.

Preceding her in death one brother; Carl Mack Grant, guardian mothers; Ozelma Crawford and Roxanna Crawford, grandson; Romeo Jr. (RJ), and her father-in-law; Rev. Pearlie Legette Sr.

Left to cherish her fond and loving memories is the love of life her husband; Earnest Legette, her three children; Romeo (Harriet) Davis, Gemonica Legette, and Brandon (Assia) Legette, nine grandchildren; Raheem, Xavier, Tiahya, Ry’Azia, Romeo III (KJ), Kau’Shay, Rianna, Jai’vionna, Jhy’Nazia, one great grand Chaise, three brothers; Herman (Juanita) Grant of Marion SC, Jeffrey Mack and Clayton Mack both of Miami Florida, five sisters; Doris Green, Jacqueline (Robert) Homer, Cathy Cottle, Angela Goodmen all of Miami Florida and Ernestine Cottle of Norfolk Virginia, god sisters Ruth Reed, Marion SC, Mary Kate Kelley, Columbia, SC, her god daughter Lakeshia Reed, Marion, SC, her mother-in-law Rosie Lee Legette, brothers and sister-in-law; Pearley (Rebecca) Legette, James (Pecolia) Legette, Christine (Rayford) Stuckey, Nathaniel Hughes Jr. all of Marion, SC, and a host of nieces, nephews, very close relatives and friends.
