Subsequently, Ella Barr and Lorine Woodberry continued to provide the tender loving care that he was accustomed to receiving.
Burney was lovingly adopted into the family of Jamie and Renee Montgomery of Britton’s Neck for the past 19 years. Regardless of bloodline, he was a treasured member of the Montgomery family. He possessed a special bond with their children, Tanner, Koby and McKenzie. His absence in their family will leave a void that cannot be filled but his memory will be cherished forever.
Burney was a kind, humble and gentle man who left an impact wherever he went. Burney would always greet you with a smile, never met a stranger and considered himself a friend to everyone. To know Burney was to love and admire him particularly as he navigated his way through life. Burney had a passion for the racetrack and seeing cars race at their highest speed while enjoying time with family and friends. Burney developed and cultivated many relationships over the years and created lifelong friends who were always willing to go the extra mile for him as he would do for them. Through it all, Burney kept his faith in the Lord and was a loyal member of Red Hill Missionary Baptist Church. Burney loved praising the Lord and was an active member of the church choir. All will miss Burney’s warm smile and kind, gentle ways.
The community mourns his loss but celebrates his homegoing, because Burney is now free!
