Mrs Brenda Hendley Gerald, 59, beloved wife of Rev. Dr. Dan Gerald and the sister of Candance Chonte Hendley, departed this life Sunday February 23, 2020 in the McLeod Medical Center -Florence, SC. The family will receive friends at the home of Pastor Dan Gerald: 419 McEachern Heights - Marion, SC  29571.

Funeral services are scheduled to be held at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Marion Thursday February 27, 2020 at !:00 pm. She will be laid to rest at Nazarene Baptist Church Cemetery.

  First Lady Brenda  Hendley Gerald, singer, devoted wife, teacher, and friend transitioned into eternal life on February 23, 2020.  Her smile, her love for singing, her dedication to her husband,  her love for her church and pastor, and her infectious laugh were character traits that made her unique and special.

 She was born to the late Andrew and Bonnie Hendley on May 9th, 1960. Little did they know, that God had gifted them with a songbird that loved to use her gift to uplift the name of the Lord.  She was educated in the public schools of Marion County and graduated from Marion High School, class of 1979.  Later, she attended Vorhees College, Florence Darlington Technical College.  She also received training as a certified nursing assistant.  Brenda’s training allowed her to work in many fields.  She worked with the Microsoft Corporation, Joyland Daycare Center, and the Mullins, Nursing Center.  Brenda’s greatest work was completed by working in God’s vineyard. 

 She was an active member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.  She was a lead singer on the Pleasant Grove Mass Choir, a member of the Pastor’s Support Ministry, a member of the Missionary Ministry, and a member of the Women’s Sunday School.  In Ministry with her husband, she served as First Lady of the Church.  She loved Sunday School and served as the adult Sunday School Teacher at New Bethel Baptist Church in Bishopville, South Carolina.

She was preceded in death by her brother Randy Graves, brother-in-law James Gerald.

She leaves to cherish fond memories, her husband of twenty-one years, Dr. Dan Gerald of the home, two children, Elder Yatch (Tammie) Gerald  of Columbia, South Carolina,  Danielle Gerald of Mullins, South Carolina,  one sister, Candace Shontae Hendley of Washington, D.C., a special niece, Virnada Graves-James, six grandchildren, three aunts, Orgae Mae Johnson, Laura Hendley, and Janie Ruth Hendley; four brothers-in-law, Johnny  (Fannie) Smith, Henry (Polly) Gerald, Thurman (Ellen) Gerald, Oscar (Mary Ruth) Gerald), sisters-in-law, Daisy Gerald, Gloria (James) Carmichael,  four godchildren, Jessica McNeil, Leon Allen, Rev. Eric Baker, Renee Baker, one special first cousin, Lillie Ruth Pee, special friends Sonjy Dawson, Azalee Leonard, Patricia Genright, Rev. Sharon Davis, Subreia Hunt, Patricia Leach and Connie Coe a special niece and nephew, Armoni Baker and Javion Hendley, Godmother Minister Queen Huggins and host of other relatives and friends.
