Booker Tom Williams better known as Booker T., Uncle Book, departed this life on Thursday August 2, 2018 in the Sunny Acres Assisted Living Facility, under Hospice Care.
Booker T. the only son of Paul and Annie Williams was born on November 15, 1927 in Marion County. Fives sisters and two brothers preceded him in death.
Uncle Book was educated with in the home and spent his life in the halls of Singletary AME Church. He lived his life through the eyes of all his nieces and nephews, and especially by his nephew Elder Dr. William Smith Jr. “Rooster” as he call him, who took a personal interest into him seeing that he was always taken care of. A special niece Effie Adams Avant, who cared for him after her mom Bessie and his mom Annie. His nephew Winston Adams took on that responsibility as well until his health began to decline. Joe N. Adams took watch over him and it was constant that they were always together. Elder Dr. William Smith Jr. and his niece Martha Williams grew up in that home. They were his children as he didn’t have any of his own, and those left to mourn his lost.
A host of many nephews, nieces, grand nephews, grand nieces and other family and friends across the expansive country of ours.
Uncle Book, Fly, Fly, Fly away little bird your mom and papa, five sisters, brothers in law and other members are waiting for you in Heaven. The Family
Toward the end he stuttered trying to say a word, maybe a name. He remembered many, many faces of those who loved him mand would go by to see him, those white or black. He would point toward the sky saying “Airplane”, he wanted to fly, and to Effie “I want to go home.”
