Betty McClain Obituary

Sister Betty Rose McClain was 66, and departed this life Sunday April 17, 2022 in Florence County. She was the mother of Miya McClain, Tasha McClain and Albert McClain Jr. You may visit the family at 1009 Spain Rd. Mullins.

Funeral services are scheduled to be held at the True Faith Apostolic Church, Chevy Road, Mullins on Saturday April 23, 2022 at 2:00 pm. She will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Marion.

Early Easter Sunday morning, the Lord called Betty Rose McClain to Glory. While her homegoing was unexpected, she peacefully transitioned to her heavenly home.

Betty was born on January 22, 1956, in Mullins, SC. She was the second child of the late John Allen and Aggienora Davis, along with nine other siblings. She was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ and accepted Christ at an early age. She later received the gift of the Holy Ghost and became a member of the Highway Christian Church in Marion, SC. She was educated in the Marion County Public school system.

Betty married Albert McClain Sr, and from this union were born Three children; Miya McClain of Savannah, Ga, Edna Latosha McClain of Mullins, SC, and Albert (Latika) McClain, Jr. of Columbia, SC. She leaves to cherish Six Grandchildren: Keitrey Howard of Virginia Beach, Va, Keith Howard, Jr. of Asheville, NC, Alayshia Howard of Savannah, Ga, Larenzo McClain, Layden

McClain, and Lauren McClain of Columbia, SC; one great-grandson, Julius Howard of Nashville, Tn.

Betty work for many years at Anvil Knitwear in Mullins, SC until she relocated to Asheville NC where she worked for Boost Transportation. While in Asheville, Betty received a Paralegal Degree, but due to a calling from God, she returned home. Once back in Mullins, she began to work for PDRTA as a bus driver where everyone knew her as “Ms. Betty”, and she remained there for the next 32 years. In 2012 she became a member of True Faith Deliverance Temple where she remained a member until her death.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, John Allen and Aggienora Davis, four siblings; Mae Vern Davis Godbolt, Marlena McBride Abrams, Dallas Davis, and Deborah Davis McBride.

She leaves to cherish five siblings: Randy (Aundra) Davis of Marion, SC, Karane Davis of Mullins, Freddie (Michelle) Davis of Mascotte, Fl, John Davis of McCalla, Al, and Tamra (Theron) Lampley of Marion, SC. As well as A host of nieces and nephews: Lakesha Davis of Mullins, Kelvin Davis of Mullins, SC, Kimery(Angel)Lewis of Columbia, SC, Malinda(Arie) Graves of Marion, SC, Tiffany (Kevin) Gerald of Mullins, Dallas McBride of Asheville, NC, Dequavis Davis of Raleigh, NC, Miracle McBride of Florence, SC, Jejuan Davis of Trenton, NJ, April (Khary) Fenderson of Trenton, NJ, Kristen Davis of Mullins, SC, Fredrieka Davis of Mascotte, Fl, Freddie (Sarah) Davis of Legrande, Ga, Sylvetta Reaves of Charlotte, NC, Janique Davis of College Park, Tx, Mychal Godbolt of Austin, Tx, Travis Reaves of Columbia, SC, Richard Anthony of Nashville, Tn, Nora Davis of Dallas, Ga, Keshon Lampley of Dillon, SC.

Betty has a loving host of in-laws Two Sisters-in-law, Edna Smith & Elizabeth Swinton Four Brother-in-laws Roosevelt McClain (Leola), Willie (Winnie) McClain, Charles McClain, and Andrew McClain. Fourteen Nieces Tammy Swinton, Penny Swinton, Avis Swinton, Felicia Swinton, Samantha Williams, Mary McClain, Lynette McClain, Jennifer Horton, Jessica McClain, Kim McClain, Wanda McClain, Christina Davis, Ashley Legette, and Brenda Frieson. Ten Nephews Willie Lee Swinton, Tony Swinton, Eric Swinton, Ernest McClain Jerome McClain, Andrew McClain, Walter Davis, Willie Davis, Curtis Campbell, and Anthony Campbell.

She also has a grand host of great-nieces and nephews and friends. Betty was known by so many and loved by all. Her special friends were Anne, Cat, Minnie, and Lynn.

The family of Sister Betty Rose McClain in consideration of the current health crisis facing our world, nation, state and local community, has decided to hold a private 100 people or less, family only, funeral service for their loved one with private interment immediately following. While the McClain family would love to be surrounded by your presence, they acknowledge the health risks to family, church members, friends, and particularly to those who are most vulnerable to this disease, the elderly and those with chronic  health conditions. What the family needs most at this time are your prayers and understanding. Thank you for your concern and cooperation.
