The family of Bettie Elizabeth Birch, in consideration of the current health crisis facing our world, nation, state and local community, has decided to hold a private 50 people or less, family only, funeral service for their loved one with private interment immediately following. While the Birch family would love to be surrounded by your presence, they acknowledge the health risks to family, church members, friends, and particularly to those who are most vulnerable to this disease, the elderly and those with chronic health conditions. What the family needs most at this time are your prayers and understanding. Thank you for your concern and cooperation.
Mother Bettie Elizabeth Birch was 83, and departed this life Thursday April 2, 2020 at her home in Dillon County. She was the sister of Fozzie Bridges.
Graveside services are scheduled to be held at the Greater Fork Chapel AME Church Cemetery on Sunday April 5, 2020 at 2:00 pm. The family will provide a guest list of 50 people or less.

A Time To Be Born
Our beloved Bettie Elizabeth Birch was the daughter of the late Hattie Abram Birch and Thomas Birch. Bettie was born on October 18, 1936 in Spring Branch, South Carolina, Marion County.
A Time To Learn and Serve
Bettie was educated in the public school system in Marion County. She was a member of the Swamp Foxes, Class of 1954. She first received Christ at Greater Fork Chapel AME Church and she was baptized in Jesus name. Bettie graduated and moved to Philadelphia, PA. In 2003, she relocated back to Latta, SC and rejoined Greater Fork Chapel AME Church, where she served as an Usher. She was under the leadership of Rev. Harold Moody.
A Time To Die
On the morning of April 2, 2020 at eight thirty-two am Bettie Elizabeth Birch passed from the hands of time into her only living sister arms of eternity, Fozzie Bridges. Fozzie has been at her sister bedside for the last few years of her life.
A Time To Mourn
Four siblings preceded her in death; Joe (Alice) Birch, Thomas Jr., Corine Birch Bethea and Lena Mae Birch Burnett.
She leaves her cherish memories to one sister; Fozzie Birch Bridges of Philadelphia, PA, four special nieces; Mary and Carmella Gilliam of Philadelphia PA., Tonya (Ray) Burgess of Latta, SC and Tumika (Desmond) Birch-Ray of Columbia, SC, one special nephew; Joe Louis Birch of Philadelphia, PA, two special cousins; Julia May (Calvin) Davis and Leodis (Glendora) Smith. She will be missed by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
