Sister Annie Smith was 69, and departed this life on Sunday July 5, 2020 in Florence County. She was the grandmother of Shaleah Smith Barr and Rashad Smith.
Funeral services are scheduled to be held at the Jackson & McGill Memorial Chapel on Saturday July 18, 2020 at 2:00 pm. The family will provide a guest list of 50 or less people. Services will be live stream on the Jackson & McGill Facebook Page.
Ms. Annie Smith was born on December 10, 1950 in the Wahee community of Marion, SC to the late Cleve and Bessie (Williams) Adams. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers; Cleve. Jr, Winston, Joseph, Master, and Frank Adams; And her sister Barnette Sellers.
Annie accepted Christ at an early age and joined New Greater Singletary AME church. She began her education in Marion School District in South Carolina. In 1965 the family relocated to Boston Massachusetts where she attended and graduated from Jeremiah E. Burke School in 1969.
Annie spent many years between working with the Mental health, Project Hope where she helped homeless women and children, and as a greeter at the JFK Library. She later attended UMass University as an ABCD coordinator also to study Human Resources until life took a turn with only a few classes away from her Bachelors degree.
Besides spending time with family and long distance calls to family and friends, Annie loved to shop. She enjoyed watching tv while completing a crossword puzzle. Most of all Annie enjoyed good company with lots of conversations. She never met a stranger, welcomed everyone with open arms and she will always be remembered of her many reflections of love.
Annie leaves to cherish in loving memories: her daughter Taushea Smith of Marion, SC; her son Michael Smith of (Uncasville, CT); her brothers, Clayton Rowell, Jr of Boston, MA; Cato (Patrica) Adams of Brockton, MA; Jonathan Adams, and Rufus Davis of Marion, SC; her sisters Elizabeth Adams Rowell of Boston, MA, Effie Adams Avant, Hazeltine Davis, Katherine D. Hyatt, Brenda (Izeall) Wilson all of Marion, SC; Christa (Alvin) Edwards of Latta, SC; and Lizzie Prioleau of Marnitta, GA; her sister in-laws Betty Adams of Boston, MA; and Sharon Adams of Brockton, MA; eight grandchildren: Rashad Smith of Brockton, MA; Michael Smith Jr. of Framingham, MA; Shaleah (Jamie) Barr or Hinesville, GA; Tyra Hazard of South Kingstown, RI; Marquis Smith of Waterford, CT; Arianna Smith of Brockton, MA; Jordan Smith of Norwich, CT; Shaniya Smith-Williams of Marion, SC; six great grandchildren: Jayden Alford, Kameron Moody, Kaleb Barr, Aaliyah Hazard, Kaleo Smith & Shakiyah Campbell- Smith.
The family of Sister Annie Smith, in consideration of the current health crisis facing our world, nation, state and local community, has decided to hold a private 50 people or less, family only, funeral service for their loved one with private interment immediately following. While the Smith family would love to be surrounded by your presence, they acknowledge the health risks to family, church members, friends, and particularly to those who are most vulnerable to this disease, the elderly and those with chronic health conditions. What the family needs most at this time are your prayers and understanding. Thank you for your concern and cooperation.
