Alvino Pearson Obituary

Brother Alvino Pearson, 61, departed this life Thursday October 3, 2019 at his home in Marion County. He was the son of Queen Spicer, step son of John Spicer and brother of Leon Spicer. 

Funeral services are scheduled to be held at the Jackson & McGill Memorial Chapel Thursday October 10, 2019 at 11:00 am. He will be laid to rest in the Effingham Baptist Church Cemetery, Mullins.

~ OBITUARY ~

Alvino Pearsondeparted this earthly life on Thursday, October 5, 2019 at his home in Marion, SC.  He was the son of the late Paul Pearson Sr. & Queen Esther Spicer Grenion. He was born June 4, 1958 in Philadelphia, Pa.

Alvino was educated in Philadelphia public schools where he attended William Dick Elementary School, Leeds Middle School, and Martin Luther King Jr. High School.  He loved to draw and paint, for he was a mural artist and worked for the Philadelphia Anti-Graffiti Network.  He collaborated with several artists in painting numerous murals throughout the city, many of which can still be viewed today.  One of his paintings is proudly displayed in the Philadelphia Museum of Art.  “Vino” also loved to fish!  He was an avid fisherman who loved to spend days in the woods and by rivers and lakes.  Alvino had a profound appreciation of nature and often gained inspiration for paintings from it. His favorite hangout was Fairmount Park in Philadelphia, Pa. Alvino continued to draw, paint, and fish when he moved to Marion County, SC.  He was a courageous and creative individual with a heart of gold.

Alvino leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Queen Esther Spicer Grenion; stepfather, John Grenion; three brothers, Paul “Puncho” Pearson, Jr., Leon (Nicola) Pearson, Robert Anthony “Tony” Pearson, and one sister, Vernee’ (Errol) Stoddart.  

He also leaves nephews Quinton (Jahnay), Derek, Tyler, Michael, and Christopher “Ryjin” Pearson; nieces Naomi, Katie Pearson, and Vernee’ Pearson; uncles Nathaniel (Barbara) Gerald of Marion, SC and Harry (Ruth) Gerald of Douglasville, Ga.; aunts Mamie Foxworth of Philadelphia, Pa., Gladys Council of Douglasville, Ga., Rosa Tooks of Charlotte NC, and Greta Gerald of Irmo, SC, and a host of other relatives and friends.
