Alithe Harrison Obituary

Mother Alithe Leonard Harrison was 93, and departed this life Friday June 18, 2021 in Florence County. She was the mother of Mattie Isreal, Marsha Wilson and Darrell Harrison.

Funeral services are scheduled to be held at the Jackson & McGill Memorial Chapel, Wednesday June 23, 2021 at 11:00 am. She will be laid to rest at the Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. Services will be live streamed on the Jackson & McGill Facebook Page.

~ Obituary ~
Mother Alithe Leonard Harrison was born on April 28, 1928 to the late Bidge and Sallie Leonard.  She transitioned to her heavenly home on Friday, June 18, 2021 in Florence County, South Carolina.


Alithe attended the Marion County Training School in Marion.  She was a member of the Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, and was very active; singing on the choir and a missionary member. She was always willing to help in any capacity where she was needed.


Alithe was married to Joseph Harrison and to this union eight children were born.   She enjoyed listening to her spirituals and loving on her grandchildren and everybody who she came in contact with.  She was a loving and devoted sweet person and to know you regardless of who you were or where you came from, that was our mom!  Alithe worked at Russell Stover Candies and Marion Medical Group both in Marion, South Carolina, and was a domestic mom.


Alithe was preceded in death along with her parents, her husband: Joseph Harrison Sr.; her children: Joseph Harrison Jr., McKenzie “Wayne” Harrison, Earnest Harrison, Doris H. Mitchell and Isabelle H. Murrell; her sisters: Rebecca L. Howard, Emma L. Evans, Ruth L. Hodge, Dorothy L. Killens, Lucille L. Stackhouse and Mary Jane Gause; her brothers: Willie (Clara) Godbolt, Norwood Leonard and Cicero Leonard.


Mother Alithe leaves her love and legacy to be cherished by ~her daughters: Mattie H. Isreal and Marcia {Isaac} Wilson both of Marion, SC; a son: Darrell Harrison of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; daughter-n-law: Emma Harrison of Marion, SC; a special grand-daughter and caregiver: Jennifer Harrison of Marion, SC; a sister: Elizabeth L. Legette of Mullins, SC; sisters-n-law: Alma Leonard of Chester, PA  and Getha Leonard of Maryland; sons-n-law: Ralph K. Murrell and Isaac Wilson; twenty-one grandchildren, twenty-one plus great grandchildren; close friends of the family: Ann Carole Gerald and Ella M. Shannon and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
 

The family of Mother Alithe Harrison in consideration of the current health crisis facing our world, nation, state and local community, has decided to hold a private 100 people or less, family only, funeral service for their loved one with private interment immediately following. While the Harrison family would love to be surrounded by your presence, they acknowledge the health risks to family, church members, friends, and particularly to those who are most vulnerable to this disease, the elderly and those with chronic  health conditions. What the family needs most at this time are your prayers and understanding. Thank you for your concern and cooperation.
