Deacon Willie Dave Jackson 83, departed this life on Wednesday May 17, 2017 in New Haven Ct. He was the husband of Elaine Yvonne Woodberry Jackson, and the father of Ronald, David, Zahyid, Willena, Melinda, Nellie, Laverne, Angeline, Willett and Tia. You may visit the family at 2830 Woodberry Court, Marion. Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00pm Sunday May 28, 2017 at the Jackson & McGill Memorial Chapel 612 S. Willie Dave Jackson 83, went home to be with the Lord May 17, 2017 in Yale New Have Hospital, New Haven CT,

He was born to the late Jack Campbell and Louise Peterson on July 21, 1933 in Florence County South Carolina.

Willie was raised by his aunt the late Nellie Jackson and Mr. Will Jackson in Dillon, SC., where he attended public school. In later years he and momma Nellie moved to Mullins, SC., where he met and married Almenia Snow. To this union they were blessed with nine children. After the birth of his first child, Willie migrated to New Haven, Ct. He got a job as a Machinist at Winchester's/Olin/US Repeating Arms in 1952 and Almenia and child followed. He joined Lily of the Valley COGIC, New Haven, Ct.

He met the love of his life Elaine Yvonne Woodberry and they were married October 1, 1980. Although they had no children, she welcomed his children to that union. After 43 years at the same job, he retired and was a Multi Setup Mechanic. On September 8, 1982 he joined the Weeping Willow Missionary Baptist Church in Marion, SC.

He joined Bethel Temple COGIC July 18, 1999 under the leadership of Elder James E. Pinkard. Having been chosen as a man of good report, full of the spirit and of wisdom and capable of using the office well, was set apart publicly to the office of Deacon. He was ordained December 22, 2002. He respected and honored this office. His favorite scripture was Psalm 90:1 "Lord thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations" a prayer of Moses the man of God. He sang on the male chorus and served as a Senior Usher on the Usher Board (as faithful servant of God). He was a member and became chaplain of the Original Gospel Travelers for 21 years.

Willie loved sports. He was a diehard Mets fan. He loved himself some Mets. He was the promoter of the Falcons Baseball Team of New Haven, Ct. Fishing was his favorite pastime. He spent many days on the boat with his sons, and was the only man that would put the rod in the water, sleep, get a bite and catch more fish than anyone. He loved all his children and had a special love for Darryll, Rajshime, Tia (Shorty), William, Veronica, Deyja, Larvaris Jr. (Junebug), Levi (My Lee) and Amari (Cape). His favorite child Zahyid, his son.

He is predeceased by eight brother Wardel Lewis, Theodore Lewis, Albert Lewis, Ernest Lewis, Willis Lewis, Robert Lewis, Wilbur Lewis and Hubert Lewis, three sisters Catharine, Earlie Height, and Blanch.

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife Elaine Woodberry Jackson, two sons Ronald M. (Deborah) Jackson, David (Sylinda) Jackson, Jahyid Jackson, his loving seven daughters Willena (Venceslau) Rosemond-Lopes, Worcester MA, Melinda (James) Jackson-Walker, Nellie Ann (Michael) McLaughlin, Laverne Jackson, Angeline Jackson Whitaker, LA, Willett A. Carr, Tia Jackson (Lavaris) all of New Haven CT. 29 grandchildren, 94 great grands, 12 great great grands, a host of nieces and nephews, the mother of his children Almenia Snow Jackson, a brother-in-law Boston Woodberry, special auntie, Mollie Mattie Woodberry, of Marion SC,  and a very best friend Rev. Bennie Gates, Satellite Beach, Fl.
