Virginia Ann Rowell

Virginia Ann Rowell departed this life Wednesday January 30, 2019 in New Jersey. You may visit the family at 3951 Hwy 9 Marion. 

Funeral services are scheduled to be held at the Tabernacle AME Church Wednesday February 13, 2019 at 2:00pm. She will be laid to rest in the Rowell Cemetery, Marion.

 ~Obituary~

Proverbs 11:25 - A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed. 

Virginia Rowell was born to John C. Rowell and Omiller Davis-Rowell of Marion County South Carolina on June 27, 1944, and passed away peacefully at her home on January 30th, 2019, with her children and family by her side.  Virginia left South Carolina in 1964, and moved to Ocean City NJ where she worked at Flanders Hotel, Glenn Insurance Agency, and was as a self-made entrepreneur.  Virginia also functioned as a loving caretaker to many loved ones. 

Virginia spent much of her youth in the fields of her father and grandfather’s land. Virginia developed a love for nature, and a very special love for plants and flowers.  This was evident throughout her life, and could always be visualized by the gardens she kept.  The plants and flowers loved her just as much, as you could tell by the growth that always surrounded her. Virginia will always be remembered for her green thumb.  

Virginia attended Terrell’s Bay High School in Centenary South Carolina where she was an active member of the Glee Club.  In her youth she attended Tabernacle AME church.  As she grew in faith, Virginia went on to become an active member of the Household of Faith, both located in  Marion, South Carolina,  Virginia later became a member of Shiloh Baptist Church of Ocean City, NJ, where she remained active until departing this life, and will forever be remembered for sharing her love and support throughout the church family.  Virginia loved to visit her community neighbors, and became a beloved member of her Haven Avenue family.

Virginia is preceded in death by her mother and father, and by her brothers Leverne Rowell, LeRoy Rowell, James (Joe) Rowell, Samuel Rowell, Percy Rowell, and Wardell Rowell.

Virginia loved her family and was forever devoted to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  Virginia leaves to cherish her fond and loving memories:  her loving daughter and caretaker Patricia Rowell of Ocean City, NJ; her loving sons Steve (Tonia) Rowell of Florence South Carolina, and Eric Rowell also of Ocean City NJ.; nine grandchildren: Richard Gerald Jr., Melyssa Armstrong, Bianca Gheysens, Steve Muller, Jordon Muller, William Humphrey, Armoni Rowell, Ariana Rowell, Steven Rowell Jr. and, three great grandchildren: Ahmelia Gerald, Richard Gerald III, and Josh Armstrong:  three sisters, Priscilla Rowell-Crawford of Ocean City NJ; Linda R (Jimmy Lee) Godbolt, and Ms. Brenda Rowell, both of Marion SC: four brothers, John C. Rowell Jr., and David Leon Rowell,  both of Marion SC; Earl Rowell, and Robert Lee Rowell, both of Ocean City NJ; sister-in-law Lula Mae Rowell of Egg Harbor Township NJ, Vera Rowell, of Andrew, SC. and Omega Rowell of Marion,  SC; her closest dearest friend  Ray Granger, Special friend and Caretaker Paula McFarland, Special friends Enez Balphazar, Linda Feaster,  Mrs. Mary Miles, Marylin Granger all of Ocean City NJ, Johnny Mcrae of Egg Harbor Township NJ, Special Friend and Confidant Cleve Turbeville of Marion SC; Rev. Cora Corine Brown of Leland NC and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
