Tanya Gillison Obituary

Sister Tanya Renee Freeman Gillison, 50, departed this life Tuesday March 5, 2019 in Florence County. She was the wife of Kenneth Gillison, the mother of Krystal Hardy-Knox, Maurice Johnson and Nathaniel Johnson. You may visit the family at 2618 Friendly Court Mullins in the Rains Community.

Memorial services are scheduled to be held at the New Life Praise & Worship Center, Rains, Wednesday March 13, 2019 at 1:00 pm.

~ Obituary ~

     Tanya Renee was born on April 10, 1968 in Chester, PA to the late Aaron Freeman and Shirley Spencer.  She departed this life on Tuesday, March 5, 2019.. 

     Tanya was a 1986 graduate of Chester High School.  After high school she worked various jobs, but her last employment was a Residential Living Staff at Elwyn Institute in Media, PA until 2014.

    Tanya accepted Christ as her personal Savior in 1982 at the Cathedral St. Mark Christian Community Church in Chester, PA.  She was very active in church singing on the Junior Ensemble and Fellowship Choir.  She was a former President of the J.H. Myers Senior Ushers.  Outside of church she was a former member of the Church Ushers Association of Chester and Vicinity and sang with Grace & Truth Delegation.

    Tanya met & married Kenneth A. Gillison on May 28, 2014 and moved to Rains, South Carolina.  When she moved to South Carolina she became a Watch-Care member of the New Life Praise & Worship Center under Bishop Tina Patrice-Wright, where she enjoyed the Praise & Worship and fellowship.

    Tanya was the proud mother of Krystal Hardy-Knox (Gerald), Maurice Johnson & Nathaniel Johnson. Along with spoiling four God-children Shaune Wiggins, Shamiel Dorsey, Shawandra Wilson (Marcus) & Anisha Wilkins (TJ).  She loved them all along with many other children.

     Tanya was a lively person and there was not a dull moment when you were in her company.  She loved spending time with her family and friends eating crabs, laughing and having fun.

She is predeceased by her siblings Aaron V. Freeman, Cecelia Freeman, and Avery Freeman.

     She leaves behind to celebrate her life her children; Krystal Hardy-Knox (Gerald), Maurice Johnson & Nathaniel Johnson, ten grandchildren; Derek, Ah'marina, Skyla, Marcus, Isaiah, Izir, Oscar, Serenity, Kristanna, and Khamis, eight  siblings; Troy Spencer, Regina Spencer, Paul Spencer, Darrell  (Vanessa) Freeman, Anthony L. (Bonnie) Freeman, Marlowe E. (Angelina) Freeman, Evelyn Freeman (Lou) Perry, Quinntoria Rice, two sister-in-laws; Cheryl Mathis and Janice Mathis, one brother-in-law; Victor Mathis, four God-children; Shaune Wiggins, Shamiel Dorsey, Shawandra Wilson (Marcus) and Anisha Wilkins (TJ), a special adopted sister/best friend, Elder Althea Hanna (Bishop Anthony Hanna), one uncle; Thomas (Shelia) Spencer, one aunt; Ethel Johnson, cousins Monique Cooper, Ethel Smith, Chucky Flamer, and a host of other cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
