Ruth L Moore

Mother Ruth Moore, 89, departed this life Sunday June 2, 2019 at her home in Marion County. She was the mother of Barbara Moore and Edgar Moore. You may visit the family at 107 Fladger St. Marion.

Funeral services are scheduled to be held at the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, Marion Saturday June 8, 2019 at 10:00 am. She will be laid to rest in the Jackson & Daughters Cemetery, Marion.

RUTH L. MOORE of Marion, SC received her Heavenly independence on 2 June 2019.   She was born Ruth McCray on 15 January 1930 to the late Thomas and Sallie McCray.  She was preceded in death by her twin sister Naomi Harps of Philadelphia, PA.   She attended Marion County schools.  She became a member of Mt Pisgah Baptist Church in 1945 and participated in the Choir and Flower Ministries.  She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Lilly of the Valley Chapter.  She was employed as a factory worker and took pride in her skills and “work” family.

She married the late Edgar A. Moore and birthed 3 children; Joyce J. McDonald (preceded in death), Barbara Moore of Marion, SC and Edgar Moore Jr (Wanda) of Elgin, SC.  She has 6 grandchildren; Phylishia Rowell of Marion, SC, Cayjeon McDonald of the home, LaShelle G. Wilson (preceded in death), Karen (Vernon) Sanders of Augusta, GA, Pamela McDonald of Tampa FL and Sharonda Moore of Elgin, SC. She has 17 great-grandchildren: Ashlei Wilson (preceded in death); Assia Wilson of Marion, SC; DeOnassia Hamilton of Dallas, TX; Kalen (Nikki) McDonald of Chesapeake, VA; David “DJ” Rowell of Marion, SC, Kenneth Hamilton and Trey Hamilton of Tampa FL; Delwin Gee of Charlotte, NC; Latrell Sanders and Marcasia of Augusta, GA; Trevon Boatwright of Marion, SC;  Collin Alexander and Zaria Michaela of Elgin, SC; Taniyha and Taneiyha Woodberry, Shaundon and Ki’Ohni McDonald of Tampa, FL and 2 great-great grandchildren Alachia Foston and Ashton Hamilton of Dallas, TX.  She had 1 God-daughter Shontae Hendley and 1 God-son Anthony Roberts.  She has a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that she leaves behind to cherish her fond memories.
