Rosie Legette Obituary

Mother Rosie Lee Legette, 89, departed this life Friday March 1, 2019 in Marion County. She was the mother of Jannie Legette Hughes(deceased), Pearly Legette, James Arthur Legette, Earnest Legette and Christine Stuckey. You may visit the family at 133 Havenwood Rd. Marion.

Funeral services are scheduled to be held at the St. Mary AME Church, Marion Saturday March 9, 2019 at 1:00 pm. She will be laid to rest in the Devotion Gardens Cemetery, Mullins.

 

~Obituary~

Rosie Lee Davis Legette was born May 25, 1929 to the late Henry Davis and Janie Lee Davis. She was the first born of nine children.

She educated in the Marion County School System. She accepted christ as her personal savior at an early age. She met and married Pearlie Legette and joined the St. Mary AME Church, where she served on numerous auxiliaries in the church over the years. She traveled to many churches in the AME Church District as first lady along with her husband the late Rev. Pearlie Legette. She attended St. Mary AME Church as a faithful member until her health fail.

She worked at Southern Packing and Sara Lee Hosiery for many years until she retired. 

Mom Rosie had a great personality and a joy to talk to and be around.

Known to her children, grands and great grands as Uncle Versee, G-Momma and GG-Momma. She loved her church and her church family. She would wear her suits and hats, loved going shopping, traveling, and going out to eat, but most of all she loved her family, especially spending time with all her grands. Rosie Lee had a special sweet spirit about het. She had a special bond with all her Sara Lee Hosiery family and anyone she met. They were all touched by her love and grace, and they showed so much love for her in return, and they all address her as “Mom”.

She preceded in death by her hubsand; Rev. Pearlie Legette, her daughter Jannie Mae Legette Hughes, daughter in Lae; Carolyn Legette, grandsons; Bernard Legette and Jaheem Reed, granddaughter; Renay Legette, siblings; Cornell Davis, Aurthur Davis, John Henry Davis, Margie Davis and Merline Crawford.

She met and married the love of her life the late Rev. Pearlie Legette, in that union were five children.

Those left to cherish their fond and loving memories are her children; Pearley (Rebecca) Legette, James (Pecolia) Legette, Earnest Legette, Christine (Rayford) Stuckey, son-in-law Nathaniel Hughes Jr.  all of Marion South Carolina, three sisters; Marsonna Davis, Rochester New York, Sarah Hughes and Agnes Wright, both of Florence South Carolina, one sister-in-law; Chestina Legette Freeman of Detroit Michigan, two adopted daughters; Sandra T. Brown of Marion South Carolina and Vickie Lee Hemingway of Parkton North Carolina, numerous grandchildren, great grands, great great grands and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 

Special thanks to all of the family members who helped with her caregiving and a special thanks and appreciation to Carolyn Reed (caregiver) for the love and special handling she gave to our mother during her illness, may God bless you all.
