 ~ The Obituary ~

Rev. Shiril Weaver Graves was born to the late William Henry Weaver and Mildlean B. Weaver on August 2, 1956.

Reverend Shiril W. Graves began her education at Hemingway High School graduating in 1974 in Hemingway, SC. She continued her studies at Coker College in Hartsville, SC; earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology in 2007.  She furthered her education at Erskine Theological Seminary in Due West, SC, obtaining a Masters of Divinity in 2016.

Rev Graves confessed Christ as her personal Savior at the early age of 19 and joined the Jerusalem AME Church. She worked diligently in the Youth Department as a Sunday School teacher until she relocated to Britton’s Neck, SC.  She was certainly a role model; indeed one of a kind.

Rev. Graves was called by God to the Ministry. She pastored New Bethel and Mount Pisgah AME Church in the Bayboro community, and Friendship AME Church in Gresham, SC. She passionately loved the Church and her members.

Wednesday, November 7, 2018, she was called back to God. She obeyed and followed Him. She passed away in the home. Rev Graves was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.

Rev. Graves was united in holy matrimony to Charles R. Graves, and had three beautiful children who she loved dearly. She was definitely a family woman; it was very rare you saw her without him.

Rev . Graves leaves to cherish loving memories: her devoted husband of thirty-seven years, Charles, son Turone (Ivory), and daughters Vanessa, Monica (Steven), and a very special goddaughter Kaemorah “Maggie” McCrea. Four grandsons: Josiah “JoJo”, Jace “Doughnut” Jayden “Jay” Rogers, and Terrell Williams. Two granddaughters; Whitnee Singletary and  Bradazia Davis, One great-grandaughter, Malieaya Williams.  Six god children; Cecilia Owens, Tandra Weaver, T’Asia Gerald, Kendall, Payton Ghilchrist, and Caelan Massey.   Five brothers; Larry (Selena) Weaver of Lake City, SC, John (Deborah) Taylor of Hemingway, SC, Astley (Lee) Williams, of Savannah, GA, Phillip Rodgers of Rocky Mt. NC, and Terry Self of Hemingway, SC.  Six sisters; Sandra Weaver, Caroline Linnen, Karen Weaver, Loris (Tyrone) Williams, Terida Weaver, and Edith Weaver all of Hemingway, SC. Three uncles: Thaddeus Weaver, Earvin (Caroline) Weaver, of Hemingway, SC, and Lauris (Annie G) of Cleveland, OH.
