Father Moses Spry Jr., 93, departed this life on Saturday August 4, 2018 in Marion County. He was the father of Betty Graves, Corey Spry and Adam G. Spry. You may visit the family at 2605 Greenwood Court, Mullins.

Wake services are scheduled to be held at the Jackson & McGill Memorial Chapel Saturday August 11, 2018, 6pm-8pm. True Light of Zion #399 will be in charge of the rites.

Funeral services are scheduled to be held at the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Sunday August 12, 2018 at 2:00pm. He will be laid to rest in the Jackson & Daughters Cemetery, Marion.

Deacon Moses Spry Jr., with family by his side passed away on Saturday August 4, 2018, after an extended illness in the Carolina Hospital System of Marion South Carolina.

He was born in Clarendon County on July 20, 1925, a son of the late Moses Spry Sr. and Rosa Lewis Spry. He was employed with Jordan Scrap Metal Company for most of his working life.

He was married to Mrs. Bertha Baker Spry. They were blessed with three children, Betty S. Graves and two preceded him in death, Willie Levern Spry and Gloria Dean Spry Longs.

He later joined the Spring Grove Baptist Church where he was a deacon. Deacon Spry was a praying man and loved to sing also. He never met a stranger. Later he married Mary Genwright Spry and were blessed with one son Adam G. Spry. As years passed he moved his membership back to Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church, where he served faithful until his health decline.

Deacon Moses Spry leaves to cherish loving and fond memories his sons, Adam G. Spry of Zion, SC and Corey Spry of Columbia, South Carolina and a loving and devoted daughter Betty S. Graves of Mullins South Carolina, one brother Henry Spry of Marion South Carolina, three sisters-in-law; Nettie Mae Spry,of Marion SC, Priscilla Genwright of Mullins, SC, Mary Genwright of Dillon, SC, step-daughters: Dorothy Mae Drayton of Marion, SC, Melvina Wade of Mullins, SC, one special niece, Rosa Lee Barnes of Marion, SC, one spiritual son Deacon Jimmy Jones, a spiritual daughter; Pat Jones of Mullins, SC, six grands, twenty-eight great grands, four great-great grands and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Special friend Ann Burroughs in the Housing Authority and all his friends on Jones Avenue.
