Funeral service for Lena Mae Leonard Tarpley will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 26, 2018 in the Greater Hayes Chapel A.M.E. Church with Pastor Margaret Simms officiating under the direction of White Oaks Funeral Home, Oakdale. Committal service will be held in the St. James Church Cemetery, 5333 South Highway, 41 Ariel’s Crossroads, Marion, South Carolina on Wednesday May 30, 2018 at 10:00am
Lena, 81, of Oakdale, entered eternal rest on Monday, May 14, 2018 in the Oakdale Community Hospital with her loving... family by her side. She was born August 26, 1936 in Marion County, South Carolina to the union of Reverend James Leonard and Connie Davis Leonard. She was a loving homemaker and received her degree in cosmetology. Lena was a faithful member of the Greater Hayes Chapel A.M.E. Church and devoted life member of the Women’s Ministry Society. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Reverend James and Connie Leonard; her loving husband, Sergeant Donald Tarpley, Sr.; grandchild, LaQuinta Nolton; and twelve siblings.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are: two daughters, Donna Tarpley-Norris of Oakdale and Constance Tarpley-Shaw and husband Vincent of St. Petersburg, Florida; three grandchildren, Dontae Nolton and Quindon Nolton both of Jacksonville, Florida. and KaMaya Norris of Ruston, Louisiana; three great grandchildren, FredDerico Brown and Bella Brown both of Ruston, Louisiana, and Jeremiah Nolton of St. Petersburg, Florida; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends
