Legrand Franklin

Father Legrand Franklin, 88, departed this life Tuesday May 14, 2019 in Florence County. He was the husband of Minnie Franklin. You may visit the family at 1429 Hwy 41-A, Marion.

Funeral services are scheduled to be held at the St. Mary AME Church, Marion on Tuesday May 21, 2019 at 11:00 am. He will be laid to rest in the Florence National Cemetery, Florence, SC.

On September 3, 1930, a great man was given to us. A man that would change lives and touch the hearts of so many, Brother Legrand Franklin. 

Brother Legrand Franklin was born in Marion, SC to the late Lotto and Lizzie Franklin.

Legrand completed his education in Marion County School District. He was then drafted into the United States Army. Legrand then worked at Marion Wholesale, Rockwell International, and returned to Marion County School District to work until he retired.

Legrand met his wife, Minnie Franklin where they settled in Marion, SC and whom he had seven children with. 

He attended St. Mary AME Church where he served as a dedicated Christian and also on the Board of Trustees for several years. 

He was preceded in death by a son Earl Frierson Sr., one sister Christine Graves, one brother Herbert Franklin, one brother in law; JB Davis, 

Legrand leaves to cherish his memory: his wife Minnie Franklin, his children: Jerry Page of Las Vegas, Nevada, Kirby Smith of Marion, SC, Kathy Gause of Marion, SC, Michael Frierson of Marion, SC, Terry Frierson of Marion, SC, and Sarah (Tommy) Johnson of Marion, SC, daughter in law ;Gloria Frierson of Latta, SC, three sisters: Willie Mae Franklin of Newark, NJ, Virginia Davis of Marion, SC, Elizabeth (Donnie) Stanley of Newark, NJ, two brothers: Milton ( Rosa Lee) Franklin of Marion, SC, Larry Franklin of Marion, SC, sister in law; Louise Franklin, of Marion, SC,  brother in law; Vander Graves, of Newark NJ, thirty  grandchildren and fourteen  great-grandchildren and a host of loving nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.
