Bro. Kenneth Brooks, 57, departed this life Thursday May 24, 2018 in Manhattan New York. He was the brother of Frankie Brooks, Charlene Gill, Robert Brooks, Dexter Nicholson and Danielle Nicholson.
Funeral services are scheduled to be held at the White Hill Baptist Church, Gresham Saturday June 23, 2018 at 2:00pm. He will be laid to rest in the White Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
~Obituary~
Mr. Kenneth Brooks affectionally known as “Kenny,” the son of the late Jennie Ruth Brooks Nicholson was born on January 9, 1961 in Gresham, South Carolina. Kenny entered into eternal rest on (day of week) June 11, 2018 in Bellevue Hospital Center, New York, NY.
Kenny was raised by his grandmother, the late Earlee Brooks and attended the Marion County Public School System (Britton’s Neck) in Britton’s Neck, South Carolina. Kenny was baptized and became a faithful member of the White Hill Missionary Baptist Church whereas, he served as the Sunday School Teacher for the young children and later the young adult attendees. Kenny also occasionally substituted in the role of the church secretarial duties.
Kenny was a dedicated employee with the Marion County Clerk of Court until he relocated to Bronx, New York with his mother and other siblings. Kenny then began his career with the New York City Health Department. Kenny enjoyed cooking and preparing meals for his family and friends. Kenny was quiet but was full of joy and laughter every time he encountered someone.
Kenny will be sadly missed by his family and friends but will always be remembered for his kindness, humbleness and willingness to help others.
Left to cherish his memories, he leaves 3 brothers, Mr. Franklyn Brooks, Mr. Robert L. Brooks and Mr. Dexter Nicholson, of Gresham, South Carolina; two sisters, Mrs. Charlene Thomas and Ms. Danielle Nicholson, of Bronx, New York; a special niece/nephew, Janiah Nicholson and Avant Nicholson of Bronx, New York. Three aunts, Mrs. Gracie Frazier of Washington, DC, Ms. Carolyn Brooks, Ms. Betty J. Brooks of Gresham, South Carolina and Ms. Mary Ellen Cooper of Florence, South Carolina.
Kenny also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
