-The Obituary-
To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted…… Ecclesiastes 3:1-2
During the quiet early morning of Sunday, June 30, 2019, Keith Rondell Phillips known to most as “Shorty” entered into eternal rest. Shorty was born on May 3, 1968 in Marion, South Carolina to Lillie Phillips and the late Willie Jones.
He was educated in the public schools of Marion County. He worked in the farming industry, the manufacturing industry, and finally the roofing industry until his health failed. Early in life, he joined Gresham Chapel Free-Will Baptist Church in Gresham, South Carolina where he sat under the teaching of Rev. Joseph Bennett.
He was very kind-hearted and loved to fish, joke, laugh and make others laugh. He never hesitated to help a friend or family. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and his family, especially his daughter, Jasmine. For many years Shorty was a member of the White Sox Softball Team of St. Paul where he played centerfield and was the outfield captain. You could rest assure that when he stepped up to the plate he was bound to hit a home run.
One sister preceded him in death; Mary Fore and his close friend, Mark Anthony Cain.
He leaves not to mourn his loss, but cherish his precious memories, his loving mother: Lillie Phillips of the home; one daughter, Jasmine Monique Phillips of Marion; one sister, Mae Smith of the home; one brother, Johnnie ( Jennifer) Phillips of Marion; one granddaughter, Riley McKenzie Phillips of Marion, a special cousin, Willie Phillips also of the home; four nephews, Charles Fore Jr., of Hempstead, NY, Christopher Black of Marion, SC, Hakeem Mills (Lakevia Mills) of Summerville, SC, and Rashawn Fore of Marion, SC; two nieces, Meagan Dunham of the home, and Eva Phillips or Marion, SC and a host of great nieces, nephews and other relatives.
