Father Joseph Harrison Jr. 70, departed this life Saturday April 27, 2019 in Florence County. He was the husband of Emma Harrison, the father of Rico Harrison and Jennifer Harrison. You may visit the family at 820 Foxboro Road, Marion.

Wake services are scheduled to be held at the Jackson & McGill Memorial Chapel, Marion, Wednesday May 1, 2019, 6:00pm-7:00pm.

Funeral services are scheduled to be held at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Marion Thursday May 2, 2019 at 11:00 am. He will be laid to rest in the Florence National Cemetery, Florence, SC.

The Florence Veterans Honor Guards will be in charge of rites.

Joseph Harrison, Jr, was born on February 18, 1949 in Marion County, South Carolina to the late Joseph Harrison, Sr. and Alitha Leonard Harrison. He transitioned to his heavenly home on Saturday, April 27, 2019. He was preceded in death by two sisters; Isabelle Harrison Murrell, Doris Harrison Mitchell, two brothers Ernest Harrison and McKenzie Wayne Harrison.

Joseph graduated from Johnakin High School class of 1967. After graduation he enlisted in the Army for two years, becoming a Sergeant in Germany/Europe. After leaving the military he attended Florence Darlington Technical College graduating with an Associate Degree in Business Management.

Joseph was a member of Spring Branch Missionary Baptist Church. He was very active in the church, singing on the Men’s choir and a Trustee. He was always willing to help in any capacity that was needed at Spring Branch Church.

Joseph worked at Sara Lee Hosiery from 1970-1995 with 25 years of service. He received several certificates yearly of Appreciation for Loyalty as Department Manager. Also, he worked as a dedicated and committed lead Supervisor for several years. He started working at King Cadillac Florence, South Carolina in 1995 -2019, with 24 years of service. Joseph loved his job at King Cadillac as a car salesman. His goal was to satisfy every customer with the right type of vehicle made just for them. At King Cadillac, him receiving salesman of the month countless times during the years build his drive each and every day of hard worth ethics that was instilled in him. He was known as “Cadillac Joe”. As the Marionite Alumni Chairperson for several years, he received loyal dedication of leadership recognition in 2012. 

Joseph married Emma Ruth Johnson Harrison on June 1972, to this union two children were born Joseph Harrison III and Jennifer Harrison. Joseph and Emma were married 47 years.

Joseph’s beautiful life and legacy will be forever cherished by his loving and faithful wife Emma of the home; Joseph Reco Harrison III of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Jennifer Renee Harrison of  Marion, South Carolina, his loving mother Alitha Harrison of Marion, South Carolina, sisters: Mattie Harrison Isreal (Daniel) of Marion, South Carolina; Marsha Harrison Wilson (Isaac), of Marion, South Carolina; one brother Darrell Harrison of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Aunts: Elizabeth Leonard, Mullins, South Carolina.                                      :

Three Brother-in-laws; Raymond Johnson, Jerry Mitchell, Ralph Murrell and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Close friends: Johnnie McCrae, Ernest Conner, Carl Mullins, J Hunter, Herbert Turner and. Huey Gerald
