Johnny Shaw Obituary

Bro. Johnny Shaw, 61, departed this life Tuesday January 8, 2019 in Florence County. You may visit the family at 142 Metal Rd. Marion.

Funeral services are scheduled to be held at the Springville United Methodist Church, Marion Friday January 18, 2019 at 1:00 pm. He will be laid to rest in the Springville United Methodist Church Cemetery. The Veterans Honor Guard of Florence will be in charge of military rites.

Johnny Shaw, known to most as “Shaw” born in Marion County, South Carolina on March 15, 1957 to the late James “Jack” Shaw and Hazel Ford. Johnny departed this life on Tuesday January 8, 2019 at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence South Carolina.

Johnny was educated in the Marion County Public Schools System and graduated from Marion High in 1977. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, proudly serving as a Antitank Assaultman, Proof Technician and Small Arms Specialist. He received the Rifle Sharpshooter Badge, Meritorious Unit Citation and the Good Conduct Medal.

“Shaw” was on avid Bass Fisherman with bragging rights. In his younger years he played baseball with a local league calling themselves “Black Sox.” He also loved watching history, fishing and survivor channels.

Johnny was employed with Masonite for over twenty years, then ITW (Signode) for fifteen years until his health failed. He attended church whenever he was able too; knowing that God was a provider.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents; James “Jack” Shaw and Hazel Ford , other siblings, brothers in law and sisters in law.

He leaves to cherish fond memories his devoted companion, caregiver of thirty five years Ella Mae, her children Monica W. Tart, Aleshia M. Green of Jonesboro Ga., Frentress L. White, Kerry (Denisha) White of Marion, South Carolina, Sonja D. White of Petersburg, Va and JC Cornelious (Bridget) White of Banger, Pa, thirteen grands, three reared in the home, one whom he let everyone know “Kerielle” Papa to her was his heart, one great grand, three brothers; Elder Bobby (Essie) Shaw of Sumter, South Carolina, Ellie (Hattie) Ford of Winston Salem, North Carolina, Ira (Anita) Ford of Florence South Carolina, two sisters Rosa (Timothy) Mullins and Jackie Shaw of Marion South Carolina, one uncle Sam Johnson of New York, two sisters in laws Minnie Shaw and Bertha W. Shaw of Marion South Carolina and a host of loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
