“Let not your heart be troubled, ye believe in God, believe also in me.”  John 14:1

Ms. Jessie Elaine Gurley departed this earthly life on Sunday, May 14, 2017 at McLeod Hospice House in Florence, South Carolina.  Jessie was born to the late Theodore Sr. and Doretha Gurley on May 8, 1959.  She was the seventh of eight children.  Yet, she always claimed the spot of being called the “baby of the family.”  This was a position that she was extremely proud of.

Jessie regularly attended the public schools system of Marion County, South Carolina and resided in her hometown after graduating from Marion High School Class of 1978.  She later relocated to Florence, South Carolina in 2010.

Jessie was a loving person who enjoyed singing, reading her bible, laughing, playing miniature golf at times and most of all talking.  She never met a stranger.  She often showed affection by giving the biggest hugs, kisses and plenty of compliments.  Her most famous saying was, “I declare, you have some of the prettiest skin I have ever seen!”  To Jessie you were always “Pretty.”  She liked seeing the beauty in everything and everyone.  She enjoyed life as best as she knew how.  Her smile will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She left this world to follow those preceded before her ~ one daughter: Alicia Gurley; one son: Travis Gurley; parents: Theodore Sr. and Doretha Gurley; two sisters: Ruth Ellen Godbolt and Diane Godbolt; one nephew: Jerry Godbolt Jr. and one great niece: Shyneisha Gurley.

Jessie leaves behind cherished memories to her two loving sisters ~ Irene E. (Hezekiah Sr.) Williams and Ruth Ella Gurley of Marion, SC; three loving brothers: Theodore Gurley Jr. of Marion, SC, Walter Gurley of Columbia, SC and Rev. Lewis A. (Honrse) Gurley of Lawton, Oklahoma; two brothers-n-law: Dennis Godbolt Sr. and Jerry Godbolt  Sr.; nieces and nephews: Hezerena, Hezekiah Jr., Dionne, Durwin (Nazdia) Gurley, Donna (Donyell) Braddy, Perry, James Clinton, Nisha, Ashley, Curtis (Michelle) Gurley, Denise, Dennis Jr., Ruby Ellen, Mary Ellen, Ira, Prince, Jasper, Westley, Elijah, Sandy; as well as many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
