Jeremiah Jenkins Obituary

Father Jeremiah Jenkins, 83, departed this life on Tuesday November 27, 2018 in Florence County. He was the husband of Magalene Jenkins, father of Randal Perry Jenkins and god-father of Janice Garrett. You may visit the family at 2211 Doorsteps Rd. Marion.

Funeral services are scheduled to be held at the Mt. Zion AME Church, Zion, SC, Saturday December 1, 2018 at 2:00 pm. He will be laid to rest in the Smithboro Cemetery, Smithboro, SC.

Mr. Jeremiah Jenkins was born December 25, 1934 in Bamberg South Carolina to the late Willie and Reba Jones Jenkins. He departed this life on Tuesday November 27, 2018 at the Carolinas Hospital System Florence South Carolina.

 Jerry grew up in Bamberg South Carolina were he attended Richard Carroll High School. As a senior Jerry went to live with his older sister to help with small children after her husbands death. He had a love for children. 

Afterwards he migrated to New York City in 1954 where he found employment at Brickford’s Restaurant as a cook, and worked there for many years, he was a hard worker. 

 Jerry met Magalene Legette “Maggie” and they were joined in Holy Matrimony on April 6, 1964. This union was blessed with two sons Curtis Derone Jenkins and Randal Perry Jenkins. God blessed them also with a loving god-daughter Janice Garrett. Jerry and Maggie moved back to South Carolina in 2006.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Willie and Reba Jenkins, his son Curtis , his siblings; seven sister and five brothers.

He leaves to cherish his fond memories his loving, caring and devoted wife of fifty four years Magalene Jenkins, his son Randal Perry Jenkins, god-daughter Janice Garrett, a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Jerry was known as a fun, loving uncle and great cook who loved a good joke.
